A very useful tool for setting finding out what rotor rpm you are running, You will need a friend to take the readings while you are flying your heli. Make sure you show your friend how to use it first.

Very helpful and quit interesting knowing what head speed your heli is running. Fast delivery (3 days). Tested it out on my HK450 hovering inside. I'm running a 11 tooth pinion and the SK 450 motor 3600kv. The math came up with 2930 RPM the actual was 2744 RPM @ 80pcnt. That heli is running pretty efficient (.9365). It was a bit hard to see through the lens (even with the aperture set to 10) indoors under fairly well lit area. I'm sure outdoor use will be just fine. I think it is a cool tool and give me some confidence my head speed is within spec's.

wow this tach is solid! dead on accurate readings testing against my friends skytach. love the lcd shutter system compared to traditional mechanical wheels. comes with a nice storage pouch which is a bonus. wish i had this earlier. my batteries were low on arrival but no biggie. planned on replacing anyhow with higher quality sonys. the best thing about this is it autosaves your last reading on the selected preset. has 10 presets so very handy to dial in your estimated headspeed prior to taking a reading and adjust from there. great tach, enough said!

Have used the tacho for a few months now, very simple to use! It can store 5 preset values (these can be changed by user). The aperture can also be changed to suit the available lighting conditions, lower value for bright and sunny, higher value for overcast! Higher values will make the blades appear blurred out a bit but if you have 2 blades on your heli and you see 2 blurred blades moving slowly then your RPM is pretty close. Whatever your blade count is this is what you should see, if you have 2 you should see 2 not 4 when the tacho has synchronized to your actual RPM. I usually obtain my headspeed by getting the heli almost light on the skids and take a reading then add about 50 to that. It's much easier to get someone else to take the reading while your craft is in the air. Unless of course you have 3 hands!

This product is sold in a different colour as the Magic Mirror. It is the best tacho I have seen and has a strobe light than can be switched on and off with a double click of the red button. The instructions are missing a paragraph where the previous one has been duplicated. This is a crucial part of the instructions so the full instruction sheet for the Magic Mirror has been sent as a file. I hope this helps.
