Great product allowing use of different radio brands while training! You can even buddy with someone flying a different mode!
I have used these for several years. As long as the "training" aircraft has a radio compartment large enough to allow for two receivers and this switch, you can "buddy" with anyone. Note you will need a supply of "male to male" servo extensions to connect the receivers to the switch.
The price for this item fluctuates drastically, so keep an eye on it. When they are readily available, the price is usually around $12.95. At the time of this writing, they are out of stock and listed at $17.95.

The perfect Buddy-box system

This clever bit of kit by Assan, allows two receivers of totally different systems to be used in the trainer model. Previous buddy-box systems required the Slave radio to be highly compatible with the Master, so they could share the same receiver .
With this Assan Buddy Box System, the Receivers from two totally different radio systems can be mounted in the model, and plugged into the Dual Rx Controller.
The Master receiver set of pins, (on the right as shown in the photo), has an extra input channel to allow a switch, (usually the existing Master Transmitter Trainer switch), to be assigned to that channel. When set up as per the well-written instructions, activating the Trainer Switch instantly switches the receiver from the Master to the Slave with no glitch or interference during the seamless change-over.
The only requirement is that, as usual, the trims on each transmitter must match, and the channel order must be the same for the Master, Slave and the servo output pins.
The system works flawlessly and allows a student to use a different radio brand or even a different mode of stick layout to the Instructor. e.g. A Mode 1 student radio can be used with a Mode 2 Instructor radio without the need to change anything.
A Student Receiver can even be hooked up at the field in a matter of minutes. The Student Receiver must be bound to the Student radio and the same for the Instructor Receiver and Transmitter.
I have used this for training and find that it is as simple to use as a good buddy-box corded or wireless system, with the added bonus of not having to worry about matching up radio systems.
The perfect Buddy-Box system, being far more versatile than anything else available.

Unit works fine and does what it says in the instructions.
Read the instructions carefully a couple of times to get the full picture of what you can do.
Only downside I have is the time to recieve the unit as it has to come from China/hong Kong. there is no stock in the UK or Europe.
