I'm a beginner, i've made drones but wanted to make a crawler with my son.
The car is sold as a complete toy/model elsewhere and hobby king just sell the shell and drive train.
The instructions are hard to follow, others have said there a re better ones on the internet. I had to modify the body to fit all the electronics. see the photos i've uploaded in the Discuss section
Lots of fun, don't expect too much. great fun to play with. will cost you less than $100 if you already have Tx and Rx.

Defender

This is a great kit and makes up into a good looking Defender. Unfortunately the instructions could be better. There is no information as to where the battery receiver and ESC can be placed and space is limited. I purchased the small ESC recommended but had to modify it by extending the switch. Also trimming some plastic to fit the receiver. I placed the battery under the bonnet, the ESC under that with the extended switch in with the battery. The receiver was placed in the back under the shelf. If the kit was modified to give more space I would give it 5 stars. A bigger battery would also increase the running time. Overall it was good value and will provide hours of fun.

Good build. Poor steering.

Built up well. Instructions are pretty poor but manageable.
Real issue is the steering which is almost a non functional design.
Climbs well with locked diffs front and back.
