I'll buy 20 of them for electric and gas model!

As you can see they can be cut in smaller pieces !

No comment about the price!

I'll glue them with Loctite GEL

or Elastic Super Glue

or how about epoxy elastic?

They'll never knew what got them on the balsa!

Gluing this hinge

I wanted to use this hinge in a balsa sailplane.



I made a gluing test, here are my experiences:

- medium CA:

you will have only ~5 seconds to push the hing into the final place. It is good, when you put the hinges one by one eg. into stabilizer. But as you have to place the elevator to the stabilizer it is impossible to do it in so short time.



- firstly soaked the slot with thin CA, after drying use medium CA:

you will have ~20 seconds, as the CA will glue as the solvent evaporates it is also not so much time to position the elevator to the stabilizer (imagine that you have 3 hinges)



- fast drying foam safe glue

bad result. this glue can be easily removed from the hinge



- Palma Wood glue

perfect gluing. You have pretty much time. After the glue was dried/glued I tried to remove the hinge from the balsa. It was broken out of the balsa with a very large force, but seeing the surface of the hinge you can see, that on the hinge there was the glue and balsa. So balsa was the weakest part in the hinging.



- PU (urethane) glue:

almost the same as Palma Wood glue, but it is expanding when gluing, but I think this glue will fit more perfect the hole and the groove of balsa

Good replacement for GWS hinges. Light and sticks to CA since surface is porous compare to the super smooth GWS hinges.
