Hands down the Avios GT is a sure keeper. Out of the box it is one of the best value foamys to date. I have now installed smaller sturdier wheels which in turn as extended my flight time by another 1 to 2 minutes, 14x8 Aerostar prop on 6s. Full throttle verticals are insane with a healthy engine roar only to cruise back down for controlled 'touch n goes'. Honestly, if you don't own one, get yourself a GT, you will not be disappointed!

I know it’s a big call but for usability, performance and all round capability this is the best foamie for general all round flying. Only negative are the foam tyres, perish way too fast and seldom available. Also run a 15x8 when using 6S setup

my grand tundra burned down.

Hello all,
I'd like to complain about this plane.
At my club, several controllers and motors of this type of aircraft have already been lost.
Where I have to make a small compliment to hobbyking, these people have all been reimbursed for the damage.
Last week on a beautiful day I went flying at my club, then my engine stalled during the flight and I landed my plane in an emergency landing on the field.
then everything seems to have gotten so hot that I saw my whole plane go up in smoke because it caught fire.
Just to be clear, original set up applied no changes and burned down anyway.
But unfortunately hobbyking does not give home. I used to buy quite a lot here but that made me want to leave hobbyking.

HK response - We're sorry to hear this. Unfortunately in almost every case of the ESC burning we've found that the wrong prop was being used. For example, using the larger 4S prop when powering the plane with a 6S battery.

Picked up the GT during HK sale and I must say I am very impressed. Assembly was straight forward although the shorter carbon spar wouldn't line up with the left wing but being so short I have left it out and doesn't affect the way the GT flies, I may fix it at a later date. I am running on a 6S 5000mah lipo and after checking the current draw on the recommended 16x8 prop, opted for a wooden Aerostar 14x8 which seems fine & getting 5min flight times of mixed throttle. Maiden was a non event with virtually no trim required. Lights work well and have the landing lights on a separate channel which is quite cool. Landing struts work well, another well designed plane from Avios which I will enjoy exploring the flight envelope. Would recommend

very flexible Aircraft

The quality of the kit was very good - no claims!
One recommendation only: Glue some velcro on each battery and on the bottom of the batterybox, to fix it better!
The flight-characteristic is that of an "advanced trainer". Good for beginners but also with very much power for advanced users.
The GT comes down very slowly for landing with full flaps, but has enough power to show wild aerobatics, too. With a 5S- or even 6S-battery it flies vertically as long as you like
.
I myself had an absence of out hobby for 40 years, and of course I thought, my capabilities were still existing. What an error! First I crashed two other models, until I bought the Grand Tundra.
In summer I flew it with floats and learnt flying again. In spite of some spectacular crashes into water, there were no severe damages.
In the moment I am flying with the big soft wheels and the soft undercarriage. Even hard landings are no problem.
After some 50 flights my GT is still looking like "new".
Excellent durablity, indeed!
And now I am waiting for some snow, to test the skies.
Floats, Wheels, Skies, 4-S, 5-S, 6-S-Batteries, Training or Aerobatic - this flyer is good for all of it.

A wiring diagram would have been nice.And some spare R clips as if you drop one you could ruin a flying session looking for it !! The centre rudder hinge was out of line which took a bit of sorting out but being an old aeromodeller this was overcome .
I am not sure if the vortex generators actually work on model wings.
But a nce big aeroplane for me to see and fly!
Do I get paid for this???
