Thank you to everyone who participated in May’s edition of HobbyKing’s Crash Cash. There was an overwhelming number of entries and all of them had us laughing and cringing at the same time – thanks guys!

For all of you who didn't win this month, remember to join June’s competition by taking a photo of your dramatic RC downfall and uploading it via the Crash Cash Page. For more details about the competition, please read our Crash Cash Rules here.

Here is your Winner for May:

Rob McGeown with his Citabria Aerobatic Pro

1) Where are you from and what’s the story behind the crash?

This is a sad story for me! I spent 12 months building the Balsa USA Citabria Aerobatic Pro during the UK lockdowns - it was a great escape for me! This was my first balsa build and my first gas-powered model with the NGH GT25.

The crash happened on the 5th flight, where it suffered a complete signal loss which I suspect was due to a power failure. The model made a large spiral into the trees and I was helpless to stop it! The feeling of panic, then disbelief had plenty of time to set in while I watched it go down!

2) What is your favorite RC model and why?

My favorite RC models are 1:4 scale IC planes, I love the theatre and presence they have in the air.

3) What is the best part of being an RC pilot and why?

The best part of being an RC pilot is the community! Sharing our hobby and encouraging and supporting others.
