This edf is practically unusable because of the shaft adapter. There are only 2 grub screws connecting the adapter to the motor shaft, and they are at opposite sides of each other. Thus, one axis is solidly connected, while the other has quite a bit of play. I can't believe a fan of this small size does not have a simple collet. In addition, the fan blades barely fit into the shroud, and with the adapter imbalance, the fan rubs agains the inside of the shroud. Also , the nose piece has the hole drilled almost 2 mm off center. I should have paid more attention to these negative reviews, because this was a waste of money. Btw this product was purchased sometime in july 2014. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, I just did a quick set up on mine. First off for the money, greeeeaat fan. The bad is you have to check blade lengths . Blades are not cut to same length. Outer housing is a little flimsy, but I believe once it is in the frame and surounded by GORILLA EXPANDING GLUE, it wont vibrate and touch blades anymore. So the bads are easy fixes. I am big on High KV motors and 2 cell lipos for high thrust and light weight setups. My motor is the Turnigy 4400 KV 450 heli motor.ESC is Turnigy 55 Amp Trust. 2 Cell Turnigy Nano Tech 35- 70 C discharge lipo ( these are a must for high KV motors). I will keep you posted on thrust numbers, but on 2 cell it is a beast. Pulls hard maybe about 600 - 800 grams thrust. Quality could be better, but you cannot beat the greeeeaaat price and overall quality. I am very happy with it, highly recommend. Hope this helps.

Buyers take note, the shaft adapter included with this fan is NOT for a 3mm shaft - it fits a 3.17mm (1/8 inch) shaft - it is very loose on a 3mm motor shaft. The rotor requires quite a bit of tidying up - the blades have quite a bit of flash on them. Having said that, I think it is still a good value fan.

Just about get a 28mm outrunner in there, maybe .5mm spare to the outside of the can. techtip, roll some strips of card around the can of the motor to centre it in the mount till you cant get anymore in.

I bought 2 of these. One was SEVERELY out of balance and despite my efforts, it still is...the other one however was pretty balanced. i sanded parts of the shroud so that the rotor would SPIN without touching shroud....and now...I spooled up one of them and MWAH....ITS A BEAUTY!! I am running them off 2S and they seem to give quite some thrust...however...i havent measured it. Great buy...just be sure to balance them.

the motor diameter may not exceed 9"/8, it should be 1" to allow some clearance. I don't see how it is supposed to be cooled unless it has fins on the end, starting at 1" from the mounting plate.
The motor needs to have 2 or 4 screw holes on the shaft side that are on a diameter between 5"/8 to 7"/8.
Unless the motor has a shaft extension it takes an in-runner.

I bought 2 of these. with the first one, the rotor wouldn't fit and spin freely in the shroud, so I trimmed the blades and now its badly out of balance, adding the Impeller makes it worse. I was about to trim the second one but then, checked the rotor for balance and it was in balance, so I just sanded the shroud and made the rotor fit.

First EDF....Thanks HobbyKing

Adapter is 3mm as stated but a slightly loose fit on my brushless motor which has a 3mm shaft.
Rotor is off-center. That mean that it has a wobble which was very clear on my Du-Bro balancer. Topic on RCGroups.
