Except for the price its ok if you are experienced in Helis.
Issues that I had:
-Canopy small crack
-Main rotor head holes not exactly parallel for fixing screw
-Main gear was slightly touching main frame
-some bolts were glued with some sticky ultimate strong glue :) so I had to heat it up before loosing it.
-change bolts on tail blade grips and add thrust bearings(this is important)
Issues were small and I fixed it within 1/2 hour but you have to know what to do.
As I said for the price its ok if you are willing to except some extra work.
As a tail gyro I use a TGZ380 flybarless system with the additional connection cable of Microbeast.
Finally my endprice for a flying 500 Flybar Heli is ~220Euro - if I compare my Trex 500XT is around 800Euro but this one plays in a higher league

Arrived when it was scheduled no damage exactly as i expected. I am very satisfied.

I was surprised to find that it was doubled boxed with a lot of paper protection around the main box after having seen videos posted on youtube showing kits that had been damaged in transit. This was a concern since i live in Canada and i know it had a long trip to get here. I respect Hobby King for taking appropriate steps to protect my HK500GT. Obviously they have stepped up to prevent an issue from continuing, the sign of a smart company that looks out for it's clientele. I am very happy with my helecopter and it is well worth the money and even tho i plan to upgrade a number of parts it is not because i feel that's necessary it is more my personal preference. I would be comfortable flying this kit as is. Thank you for your prompt and diligent services.

Fast delivery and high quality of packaging and parts.

Only two days after placing the order I already received the kit from the EU warehouse! Blades felt stiff and the width was 38 mm. I also bought in the same time the HK500 GMT which came with 43 mm blade width.
The packaging of both kits was excellent and I was impressed by the high quality of the parts.
I did not assemble or fly yet, but up to now both kits perfectly meet my expectations.

I purchased two of these recently and I'm glad I did it looks like I might be able to make one good one out of the two. The first kit had a scratched up chassis and the canopy was slightly cracked, but the moving parts all seem to be in good shape. The second kit had a better chassis, but the canopy was cracked severely and the main rotor has all sorts of weird motion; I suspect the links aren't set up correctly. This puts a real damper on the purchase; I kind of wish I hadn't bought these.

Had to replace all screws with higher quality screws. Main shaft was bent, but repairable. Oblong main gear also replaced. Fly's well.

don't like this kit at all utter rubbish don't bother with it you will be gutted just not worth all the hassle getting it right to fly.just bin it utter waste of money they need tarots 500 in stock the quality of them is unbelievable much better all round. got one and flies like a dream.

This is quite good for the price, however there's a few things you must pay attention to.

The screws are very soft and strip easily if you tighten them down too hard. The tail hub that comes with these is downright dangerous, don't use it, even the upraded metal one from hk also came without thrust bearings and almost came apart. Get tarot or align blade grips and hub. Also get CF servo mount, and metal mixing and washout arms,

You'll also want an align main gear as the one that comes with it is out of round.

For the prices it's definately worth your while if you're willing to work with all the smaller problems. The frame, shafts, and parts over all are pretty good. You'll be happy with the end result after putting in some time.

this hk500 helicopters or utter crap.don't bother with them they cost you more in the long run rather buy align and be done with.i've learnt my a lesson.hobbyking need to redesign this completely.need to upgrade all the parts like the tarot kits

great heli, more than happy. the size is a major increase from the 450 which surprised me.
as previously stated, don`t forget to ground your tail boom for static lockout reasons caused by the friction in the belt.
