good plane flys slow, easy hand launch, motor foam cover did not fit properly had gaps, had to use hot melt glue to fill gaps, otherwise great plane, fits in backseat of my ford falcon. happy with purchase, still playing with motors, have currently 3536 1700kv with 8x5 prop, pulling 577watts,at 51amps, on nanotech2200mah 3s 45-90c X2, a lot of noise not too fast, will try a 3542 1250kv with 9x7 and see what that does..

Arrived today, 8 days delivery from hongkong! very quick thank you, Well packaged, box glued inside a box, no damages looks GREAT!! I think 1 carbon tube for the wings may be too flexible for hard maneuvering, when I assemble it I will put another tube inside the standard tube, the wings and vertical stabilisers are quite thick so should be able to handle minor crash's well, I'm thinking a 1800kv 3536ntm motor with around a 8-9" prop, I will experiment with the motor prop combo, it looks pretty good for what you pay, if your looking for a tough large plane and if like me you like wings,.......I will report back after I've flown it with motor etc setup, if it's half as good as my wing wing Z-84 I'm gonna like it!

The airframe shipped double boxed.

The packaging was impressive. The airframe goes together quick and easy.

I am using the glue that was provided with the kit and it works really well.

the cargo area is huge. I retired my bixler from fpv service because I ran out of room to place all the electronics. This phantom airframe has plenty of space for electronics.

I am still building this plane. I will try to come back and give a report on the maiden flight.

Great all round wing, can carry all my fpv gear and 2x2200 4s batteries. Glides great and can handle a bit of wind. 2 bad points it has which i resolved, 1st is the wing flutter when ur on decent and doing about 100km/h. The wings bounce around, i cut and glued in additional wing spars, it took most of the flutter out. 2nd is how loud the phantom is. I could hear mine 1km away, so i cut out the rear tail section near the prop (where the danger decals are) i ended cutting about 3cm's off from the motor surround to the vertical stab,it made it around half as quiet. Ill try post a pic in the video's or files tab.

My setup is: 2 x HS-65MG servos , Nanotech 3S, 5000mAh, 35-70C Lipo, SK3 35-42 1000KV outrunner with an APC 11x4.7 SFP slow flyer pusher prop, PLUSH 60A ESC. The Lipo is held in place using velcro but I also pass a strap through the airholes in the bottom to hold in place. I'm using an 8 Ch Immersion RC (IRC) diversity receiver in the wing powered using an external Corona 5V BEC. For FPV usng a FatShark Micro FPV Pilot Cam 420TVL placed forward on the nose and a I have a Turnigy 700TVL camera in the camera hole pointing down. I'm using IRC 600mW 5.8G video transmitter with an IRC SpiroNet antenna facing downwards below the wing; oppsite wing to Rx. The IRC vTx powers my camers and EZOSD. I switch the cameras using a HK switcher. I'm using the IRC EZOSD and I've left the GPS in the heat shrink with the EZOSD and both sit on the Lipo held with velcro. It works fine with the canopy on. For video recording I use a #16 Turnigy camera. I did modify the hatch and strapped on a GoPro3 protected with the Turnigy case but I didn't like the drag it was causing particularly on windy days. I can highly recommend the motor , prop, ESC setup its ideal for FPV and has more than enough thrust. Its quite quick so you need to fly it in a large open area. I did have an accident and almost lost my plane when I first had it, but after a few flights I like it, its a good FPV plane. A little bigge

Hallo,

Gruss

This is by far "the best of the best". Faster, stable like on tracks and also slower on landing aproach. Better than Skywalker IMO.
I didn't use the provided glue. I used foam safe CA and Gorilla.
Strongly recommended. Buy with confidence!

I bought this Phantom kit recently as my first FPV platform. I paired this kit with a; NTM 3530 motor, Turnigy Nano-tech 5000 mAh 3s battery, 50A HobbyKing ESC, HXT900 servos and 9x6 Master Airscrew prop.

It cruises very nicely at about 85 km/h at 2/3 throttle, and I hit a peak speed of 100 km/h during descent. It's very, very stable and simple to fly. Even in a bit wind it was solid. The cockpit was easily able to accommodate my FPV setup, which includes; EzOSD, Oamway 500mW video Tx and a 690TVL camera.

The Phantom itself is of a very impressive build quality. The foam is very smooth with no imperfections. All the pieces fit together perfectly and the supplied glue was amazing (in fact I came back to this page to find out more about this glue!). The hinges on the elevons are excellent. That is, I own other planes were the stamped foam hinges have had weak, thin points along hinge, however this was not the case with the Phantom as the hinges were very well made. Overall I'm very impressed with the Phantom and highly recommend it to anyone as an FPV platform. My brother has been flying FPV for years. His most recent FPV plane is an X5, and after flying my Phantom yesterday he has immediately bought himself a Phantom kit to transfer all his gear into. He plans to run his with an 8x8 prop for a higher top speed.

My config:
1185KV Turnigy SK3 motor
3S, 5Ah Zippy Compact battery (good performance, less size & weight than others), EC5 connectors
60A Turnigy Plush ESC (programmed progressive start & brake)
2 Turnigy TGY-50090M Metal Gear 9g Analog Servos
Frsky 7 channel futaba compatible receiver
Ni-Zn 4.8v receiver pack
10x6 carbon folding propeller

All Up Weight: 1.25Kg (2,75lb)

Maidened last Saturday
It departs from your hand easily with the massive trust of motor/prop at half throttle
Very stable flight, no trim needed, can make closed loops & performs perfect, straight barrels.
More than 10 minutes endurance, still testing this after 8 flights
Little flex in structure, supports slightly hard landings on grass
I will add telemetry first, fpv later (1/2Kg (1lb) useful payload)
Had to locate all the weight at the very front to compensate for the -heavier-than-recommended- motor & prop. (This way I left all the free space in the C.G. zone to add the payload later)

Very nice model!
Just check your C.G. and balance carefully and glue the carbon spar correctly with vast amounts of "mucilage" (polyurethanic) glue

The build quality is good and pretty easy to piece together. One thing you must be aware of is that the kit above does not mention a prop in the "requires" area, however it is mentioned in the paper manual. Mine arrived today and I was disappointed to find that there was no prop. Also there is no pre-cut plug for the FPV hole in the front, so if you don't plan on using a camera you'll have to bust out the foam cutters.
