Southern Rail HO Scale QHAF 02 4 Car Coal Hopper Set in Weathered S/Steel with Interail Logo (2002-2011)

QR National commenced it's interstate expansion in 2002 with the aquisition of Casino based Northern Rivers Railroad and the securing of a domestic coal contract in the Hunter region of New South Wales. This involved the moving of coal from the nearby Duralie mine to the nearby Strathford mine for washing and blending. These wagons were converted VAKM hoppers from Queensland and were converted to 2 types, QHAF and QHBF, the difference being the type of bogies. These hoppers were also used between Newstan and Vales Point hauling coal for domestic use.

This is a set of 4 double bogie HO Scale QHAF 02 coal hoppers in weathered stainless steel with Interail logo on the sides. They are ready to run with highly detailed bodies, underframe and chassis, etched stainless steel walkways and ladders, blackened Code 100 nickel silver turned solid wheels and geniune Kadee 158 couplings. The bodywork is injection molded, the metal parts have been applied separately and the detailing is for the 2002 to 2011 period. Build an interesting mining scene and bring it to life with a long train of these coal hopper wagons.
