Southern Rail HO Scale Victorian FX1 3 Car Sand and Flour Hopper Set VR Logo (1990)

These flour wagons have 4 silos mounted on a deep underframe and were gravity fed through top hatches. They are discharged by air pressure being forced into each silo and exiting through pipes mounted on the end platforms. Several flour companies in Australia used these wagons and there logos and advertisements appear on some of them. In 1990 some of these wagons were reclassified VZGX and were used locally for the transport of sand, one of these is included in this 3 car set.

This is a set of 3 double bogie FX1 wagons in HO scale, 2 are flour hoppers, one in silver with the large VR logo and one in white with the small logo. Then there is one sand hopper wagon in white with yellow bogies. They are ready to run with highly detailed bodies, underframe and chassis, etched stainless steel walkways and ladders, blackened Code 100 nickel silver turned solid wheels and geniune Kadee 158 scale "Whisker"couplings. The bodywork is injection molded, the metal parts have been applied separately and the detailing is for the 1966 period. These wagons were generally seen running from Albury to Westall or Williamstown, and some were also operated around Canberra, Enfield Yard and Sydney.
