The Tronxy X-3 desktop 3D printer kit is a great way to get into 3D printing without committing to an expensive upmarket printer.

With its clean, desktop design the X-3 is quick to assemble with extruded aluminum profile sections to make everything rigid and these, combined with strategic use of acrylic parts keep the weight to a minimum. Unusual for a printer in this price range the X-3 includes an auto-level function so you don't have to constantly check levels before every print which is quite common with many inexpensive printers.

As you can see from the product video the print quality from X-3 is exceptionally good considering the price you are paying for it. So if you need a printer that can print larger sized spare parts and usable prototypes this is an excellent option for you.

Need to take your laptop away while you're printing? No problem; the Tronxy X-3 can use either a direct USB connection to your computer or can print via a micro SD card, so that you can load whatever files you need to print onto that, put it into the printer and print from there.

The X-3 is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 7 and Mac systems and uses readily available Cura, Repetier-Host and Slic3r software for slicing into g-code for printing.

During operation the X-3 can be fine-tuned using the 5-button controls to navigate the easy to read white on blue LED display screen.
The build volume of 220 x 220 x 300mm is ideal for creating large objects.

Why wait? Take the plunge into the endless possibilities offered by 3D printing with the Tronxy X-3 desktop 3D printer!

Very good little printer after minor upgrade

Mar 22, 2018

This printer is easy to assemble, has a good printing volume and performs very well.
I printed out a small upgrade like this one to fix bed wobbling : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2073103
Next upgrade will be the addition of a layer cooling fan.

Seems ok, but have not printed anything yet

Sep 12, 2017

Not having a manual included threw me, but downloaded, found slightly confusing as the video did not match the assembly instructions and the video is for a non self levelling model. A parts list with the parts named/numbered would have been helpful, had to think quite hard. I found that some holes were in the wrong place, one on the base plate of the control box did not match the power unit and the holes for the Y axis wheels were too far apart leaving a very unstable platform. Some parts missing - no M4x10 screws (shortened M4x12 after checking that there were more than I needed) could have done with more zip ties to hold the cables and there were not enough M3 nuts to assemble the filament holder. There were however quite a few nuts and screws left over, loads of M2 nuts and I only needed 4 for example.
Another problem is that some of the cables are rather short, particularly the heater cables also the X cable, which I swapped with the A, which was much longer, but the control box will not sit at the side with the screen facing the front as illustrated. Mainly due to the heater cable lengths, which is a shame as most others are too long.
A couple of points on the assembly instructions, I would have been helpful to point out that for step one, the frame assembly, the side frames should have the side with the holes opened to allow the screw head in should be at the bottom. I suppose it's obvious really, but as it was the first instruction and I had not read ahead, I didn't realise quite how much I would have to think about it. It would also have been useful to talk about the wiring as required rather than leaving it to the end, but I expect that people will realise that it needs to be done during assembly. Another point, which is quite important, is to advise that the position sensor, mounted on the extruder assembly is moved to the bottom of the slots and adjusted later to avoid the unit crashing into the heatbed, as happened when I set it to home itself. I just thought that it would be correct as it was pre-assembled. Silly me. I also checked the voltage, which was slightly high. One further point, as this is my first dabble into 3D printing, I am not familiar with the numbers quoted in the menu options for adjusting the print detail for example, more guidance with this would be helpful, rather than leaving it to trial and error.
Having said all that, it worked correctly first time, but as I said, I have not printed anything yet (need to get some more printer bed sheets now - and the correct size is not available)
