Well the price has increased since I purchased these for the L-59 from hobby king which is just a cmp L-39 re schemed. I bought the end on a whim, I don't do edf. These retracts fit with some modifications. The nose gear motor had to be for into the fuse blk head. The retracts them selves have performed with no issue thus far. The overload circus works fine. If it does not cycle try disconnecting power first. The oleo struts are far from desirable. I can land great and the L-39 lands great but the lower Axel carrier bent on first landing. There was a grub screw hole in the bend which you should make sure a screw is in it, that will help. Tamjets has struts that are 1mm longer that I am gonna try. I tossed the breaks, what a bad concept. The tires wear fast. I am getting some 2" in soon. The springs may be slightly soft as well in the strut but I won't be changing springs out. The nose gear is fine, I liked the whole thing, steering works fine.

Mine failed in a very short time. Micro switch contact on the PCB fell apart. Unable to get a replacement PCB board from HobbyKing support who just ignore my request. Not the cheapest retract on the market so you would expect better quality and support.

Im using these retracts on my L-59. Maybe they are a bit small, but look fine and thats what fit in space of wings and nose. In fact, the front wheel does not hide complete, half wheel stays visible, but no one noticed in the air. The L-59 is a great plane and if 45 flaps when landing, the retracts wont suffer. Plane weights 9 lbs and foam tires are too soft and no replacement for those, so start finding some solution when they wear. About brakes, I used two 9 gram servos, one for each brake, enough space and just transmiter program to move at same time.

I had bought these retracts for my L-59.Today I flew my jet for the first time and it was fantastic , but the retracts and especially the struts are awful. Two hard landings and the struts were bented. About the retract
mechanism it's early to tell anything but till now they are working perfectly.
The real problem is that HK does not have struts or spare parts for these retracts and the allou metal is Chinese and not aircraft grade allou. The load on these struts on a hard landing is too much for this kind of metal.

These units are far to small for a 90mm hawk or L-39. They are more suited to a 70mm class jet. They are simply to small for a 90mm model.

The units are exellently made and very strong.

I have a set of these to go into the L59. They are of very sturdy yet light weight construction and operate very smoothly. The oleo legs are really nice though one of mine required a bit of reworking due to the hole to retain the axle not being machined straight. I feel they are spectacular value for money. The brakes themselves are well designed but the linkage to them would be very difficult to install and make reliable. Remember they will need to work simultaneously or the model will pull one way so I have decided not to use them and remove the operating arm. Brakes that are unreliable are worse than none at all. I would be interested to see a successful installation of them if anyone manages it. Don't let this put you off though as they are otherwise brilliant. If they one day come up with servo less electronic braking that would be a good answer.
