I have two of the motors ..both are very strong and reliable
But hobby kings esc will not hold up against them..
The Novak havoc pro sc or pulse are rated for the rpms
You don't just need amps the esc must be rated for 3.5t motor or it will not work

It was a quiet morning when my Hobbyking package arrived, I excitedly opened the box to find everything safely packaged and individually boxed.

Pulling the motor out I was surprised to see that it was red like the other trackstar products and not grey as per the pictures/video.

I chucked it in my cheapo Flying Fish (modified with lots of alu and set up for grip) and apart from the disappointment of the car not running with a sensor cable connected I soon found that I needed to glue my tyres as all 4 flew off the rims with the first little blip of throttle on the bench.

20 minutes later and with some severely stuck fingers I had everything prepared and eagerly headed out in front of my house for a quick blat up and down the road. Car is much faster, on the stock 26T pinion there's a bit of cogging on startup but .. damn, it flies.

My personal recommendation is that you shouldn't buy something like this half arsed, get a good ESC - I grabbed the 120A X-car ESC (Hobbywing Xerun?) make sure you have quality lipos (5000mah 30c is what I suggest) and don't go thinking you are going to be able to break land speed records with it. Ultimately it's better to run larger pinions with gruntier lower KV motors that can handle 3s if you want real speed.

Still, I love this - will be buying a 10.5T version for my other car and will update this when my smaller pinion arrives.
