The HobbyKing Bushmaster is the next greatest sporty, all around fun airplane everyone needs in their hangar. Modeled as a stand off scale Cub model, the Bushmaster has the classic bushplane outline we all know and love. The Bushmaster has a light wing loading plus extra power to throw around meaning short take offs, and slow controlled landings. The slight wing dihedral and high wing configuration makes the Bushmaster very stable so it can also be used to train new pilots. The tail dragger landing gear is made of rugged steel wire that allows it to land on the roughest terrain and keep coming back for more. Large wing flaps slow the Bushmaster down, great for short runways, or spot landing fun!

The fully molded EPO airframe arrives in a plug and fly configuration, meaning you have a short time from opening the box, to the flight line. We have designed the Bushmaster to be a fully bolt together type construction, eliminating the need to glue anything. Bolt the control horns in place, screw on the tail, attach the wing, and fly! For control, a simple 5+ channel radio is all that is needed, along with a 4S LiPoly. As an alternative, a large 3S pack can be used, though is quite scale in its power to weight ratio.

We like the Bushmaster for training new pilots and as a fun, float about the sky plane. Sit back in a chair with your favorite beverage and cruise the skies, shoot touch and goes, then finish off with a few lazy aerobatics.

Features:
• Plug and Fly - Just add radio sytem, battery and fly!
• EPO molded foam airframe
• Rugged wire landing gear with oversize foam wheels
• Easy access battery hatch
• Working wing flaps
• Bolt and snap together construction, no glue required
• Light wing loading

I bought on sale thank goodness. Long story short, the final assembly was not bad. The overall cosmetics are not bad. The flight characteristics when the electronics work, are good. It's a Cub, so the design is great. The bad is typical HK lack of Quality. Maiden flight lasted about 2 minutes. Upon initial flap deployment the motor shaft came out of the motor and shorted the receiver and servos and she ended up in the very top of the only tree in my back filed where I fly. I got it down and it took the incident pretty well. Once I replace all of the crappy HK electronics I'm sure it will be a fun plane.

Have flown about 12 flights with no problems. Do not use 3S, not enough power. Think this is a great beginner airplane, simple to assemble and easy to fly. I am only using 2600 batteries, they seem to last just fine. Well worth the money, in my opinion.

First off, this is a great plane, stable and very imposing in the air. I love flying this plane, you can take off and land on a table top and simply enjoy the peace of soaring around the sky. That said, I did make two changes to the place. Enforcing the landing gear seemed a no-brainer, after a few heavy landings, the wire legs start to give way and your prop hits the ground. I simply added to 4mm rods, gorilla glue to get sturdy legs. The second change was the engine mount, it is very weak so I cut off the nose and fixed the steel engine mount onto wooden struts. Apart from these two changes, this plane is a must and is very well built.

Following on from my earlier review (tailplane spar wrongly positioned at manufacture), after jerking me around for three months, Hobbyking finally admitted that they couldn't get spare parts from the manufacturer and offered me $20 credit as compensation. I accepted as I had no real option, then I got busy and dug out the spar tube, reassembling it correctly with a fair amount of success. It's a pity it was necessary, though, and they would have helped if they'd admitted that they couldn't get spares a bit earlier! The plane flew well-until the third flight when, 3 minutes after takeoff, the esc burned out. The bec kept working, so I was able to land "dead-stick" but I have to say I'm not impressed; after buying from HK for over five years, without any real problems, I won't be buying any more of their planes unless they are exceptionally good value and which I'm prepared to rebuild/refit should there be any deficiencies!

Fairly good product quality except for the decals which have to be trimmed. Yes you do need some glue and you need a few longer screws to attach the elevator horn. No big deal.
The plan has good predictable flight characteristics and yes, it pitches up quite a bit when applying flaps. I set my flaps for slow deployment of 4 seconds which makes the event less dramatic and allows for plenty of time to apply down elevator. I don't plan on adding a down elevator mix to my flaps.
The landing gear is way too springy and will bend too easily unless you make soft landings. I plan on adding some cross bracing.
All in all, this is a great plane.

Netter Flieger in ansprechender Qualitt.

Received and built today. Fantastic quality kit. Everything fits beautifully. Even proper hinges for the flaps. Great finish on the foam even down to the wing scalloping. Battery bay is immense. Will be flying her tomorrow.

First I will start by saying the Bush Master is a good model but not without some issues. Yes the stickers are poorly applied but can be fixed with a sealing iron on low heat, the supplied esc with mine was not able to power the 6 servos without the rx failsafe kicking in (test in on the bench but I changed out the esc you could also fit a ubec) the bearings in the supplied motor were very dry! after a lube so far they seem ok. The prop needs to be reamed at the back or the prop adapter wont tighten and balance the prop while you are at it. On the the plus side the model flies very well, plenty of power and the flaps are quite effective! The model draws heavily on the Fun Cub and it is a little bigger but a lot heavier and cant meet the Fun Cub in the bottom of the flight range and lacks its refinement too, but for the price and the minimal build time it represents good value. I used a 3700mah 4s and JR DMSS radio
