The HobbyKing™ Mini DLG with Ailerons is a brilliant model perfect for those looking to get into DLG gliders without the hassle and expense of building a traditional kit! Small in size, excellent construction quality and a high level of pre-assembly, all at a price that can't be beat!

The carbon reinforced wing is built from balsa and covered in ultra-light film, as are the horizontal and vertical stabs. The boom is constructed of carbon fiber while the detachable fuselage pod is made from a combination of light ply and plastic. All this combined makes for an ultra-light model with excellent flight performance!

The Mini DLG arrives with the wing, fuselage and tail sections pre-assembled, as well as the servos, pushrods and control horns all pre-fitted. After opening the box, you will simply need to bolt on the wing, the horizontal stab and install your own receiver/battery.

Features:
• Excellent build quality
• High level of pre-assembly
• Ultra-light balsa and carbon fiber construction
• One piece bolt-on wing and horizontal stabilizer
• Servos, pushrods and control horns pre-fitted

Specs:
Wingspan: 990mm
Length: 750mm
Wing Area: 11.16dm²
Flying Weight: 160g (can add ballast weight for windier days)
Servo: 3 x 3.6g micro

Required:
Minimum 2CH transmitter and receiver (micro receiver recommended)
4.8~6V receiver battery (less than 25g recommended)
UBEC/Voltage regulator (if using 2S lipoly receiver battery)

It's fun to fly on a sunny day and the quality is quite good for the price. I also own the Mini DLG without ailerons and this version doesn't stay in the air as long, but it's much faster and can do more acrobatic turns. The servos aren't quite precise enough, but they're fine if you aren't looking for best performance. As with the regular Mini DLG, I would suggest putting at least some tape around the tail boom just under the wing, because it can easily develop cracks. I fly this with a 180mAh 2S LiPo, 5V regulator and the FrSky V8FR-II. I have to put some more weigh in the nose to get the CG just right.

The mini-DLG is an excellently constructed model with absolutely no faults at all and so I cannot therefore agree with the comments about poor construction and weak boom mounting . This model needs to be looked after and not be subjected to heavy landings - it's not made of foam, it's made of balsa, film and hard plastic so it needs to be landed gently, as all DLGs should be . To help slow the model down for landings I have set up the ailerons to droop using the throttle function as suggested in the Daily Video and it action works very well . This model is more compact than my other DLGs and so it is handy for flying in smaller fields, slopes and sea walls . The model arrived this evening and I completed the radio installation and set up in about an hour - I can't wait to get it into the air, but the weather needs to improve first . A very nicely constructed model and one which I am proud to own .

The boom is very fragile at the pod and wing connection, you can wrap the boom with tape around the wind mount area, between the mountings and just aft of the rear mounting, this helps stop the boom splitting, also you can tape the back of the pod to the boom with foam backed servo tape, just remove the pod securing screws, apply tape to the area of the pod that's closest to the boom, then when you screw the pod back on, make sure the tape sticks to the boom, this will give the boom a bigger connection point with the pod, decreasing the likelihood of stressing the boom on a bad landing and from launching.
Considering the weight, it flies pretty well, I also have the yellow none aileron version

Sehr gut verarbeitetes Modell, soll mit 1S Lipo 600 mA mit Voltbooster betrieben werden wegen Gewicht, damit der Schwerpunlt passt.

As as first DLG, I think this is a great model, it's true, the boom where it goes i nto the pod is a bit weak, but, it's more down to the fact the pod is only supported by three screw, which leaves a lot of leverage force bei g transferred during a heavy landing. So before you fly it for the first time, put a bit of servo tape between the pod and the boom under the wing area, it'll save you cracking the boom like i did!

A bit of carbon laminated over the crakwilll fix it, ready for the next flight.

Great little DLG. Structurally strong and has a nice finish. I've bought spare servos Turnigy 1440, but the stock ones are even better. Right wing had a slight twist up toward the tip, but this was easily fixed with a hot iron. First flight was unstable with the CG at 80mm, but after adding 10gram of lead to the nose, with the CG at 70mm it now flies great! It's also very nice to have the flaperons. I've mixed elevator with flaperons and vice versa so it can fly efficiently at various airspeeds. Great product and definitely a lot of fun. Havent gotten more than 30 second flights in dead air, I can't wait to find some thermals. Would definitely recommend this DLG.

I received my DLG in good condition wit tight covering. I used a Turnigy battery voltage booster and a 1s Turnigy battery. The servos and linkages were pre-installed so all I had to do was install the receiver and equipment listed above. It took longer to program my transmitter than assemble the plane! My first impressions were positive and the fist flights were predictable with only a little down trim needed. I LOVE THIS PLANE!!I set up the ailerons in three modes, launch 2mm up, even for flight, and 4mm down for landing. I'm still tweaking the settings but this is so simple and fun! This will not be my last DLG.

I bought this glider as my first dlg, as I was interested in having flaperons rather than the rudder/ elevator control of the other version. I was happy to see that the glider arrived in good packaging with no damage. Although the kit's contents did not match the instructions exactly (the throwing peg has been changed), there was no confusion in the assembly process. I originally used a 2s 300 battery with a BEC and hobbyking's 3 channel receiver, but eventually switched to a 1s 500 to save weight and to make it easier to fit everything in the canopy. The plane feels like it is high quality, and is very light. I started with overhand launches and decided that I needed to reinforce the vertical stab because it is glued to the boom without removal of the covering film. With that securely attached, I tried discus launching and found that it was relatively easy. I get between 30 and 50 feet of height with a conservative throw. I found after some not-so-graceful crashes, however, that the boom tends to crack under the rear wing mount. the plane still flies fine with the cracks, but would probably have a short life span that way, I will be reinforcing that area, and everything else seems to be reasonably durable.
I am happy with the purchase, and although I would have liked to see a stronger boom/ wing mount solution, the glider is good enough quality at a good enough price to learn

The overall quality of this product is quite good for that price.
The main weak point is that the fuselage rod is VERY weak at the front side. The wall thickness is paper thin so it can not withstand any impact.

So it is after all it is not suited for beginners...
