Just recieved Mine. Seems OK Motor bell can be pulled back approx 4mm that Definitely needs looking into. Also evidence of Fan rubbing on the Duct, motor/rotor is Not centered. Were these factory 'test run' ? Or did I get a Used 'return' unit as only running it could cause these markings.

Could be Fine.. with a rebuild, I hope. I'm also thinking I should have gotten the ADH 300 version as that motor is at least twice as long.

Yesterday I maid my first testrund in my selfmaid depron FW TA-183 "Huckebein" (Destweight 350 gr.) with a 20 Amp RX and 1000mAh 3S Lipo and what should I say "Wauh"... The model makes a lot of noise and produces a lot of thrust !

Thx Hobby City

Not bad, some problems

Nov 14, 2007

EDF housing appears to be a GWS or clone housing. Outrunner motor makes a nice light EDF unit.

But, I only measured 320 grams of thrust @ 13.5A, 11.1v on a Zippy-H 30-40C 2500mah, using a Turnigy 25amp ESC. Both motors gave the same thrust, so the advertised 420 seems a bit suspect (unless I got two duff motors). I wonder if they'd survive 4s...

Build quality on one motor was also very poor. The stator wasn't pushed down the bearing tube entirely, so the end of the bell was able to rub against the stator coils (and rub off insulation) when pulled forward (e.g. by the fan thrust). Fortunately I noticed this before running the motor, and was able to force the stator down the tube by gently clamping it in a bench vise between soft wood blocks.

Other motor was fine, though the set screws look easy to strip if you're not careful.
