Just for correction purposes in order to give accurate details I have used the Turnigy TR-42-40 B 900KV not the 50-55A as mentioned in my earlier review which is shown below. My apologies for the error.

"The Edge is a great plane. I used for power setup Turnigy 50-55A, Turnigy 40amp ESC,Zippy 3s 2200mah 20C lipo,2 HD-2216HB servos for ailerons,2 HXT 900servos for elevator(with modifications)and HD-2213MG for rudder and APC 14x7. Total flying weight is 1,250 grams. Power as measued with Hyperion e-meter came to 450 watts and 39 amps current which is perfect for this setup. With the above mentioned power setup the Edge was capable of all 3D maneuvers including hovering, torque roll, harrier rolls, etc... On my first flight I did not require to do any trim adjustments which reflects the high quality that went into building the Edge. Flying time is approximately 6 minutes with the mentioned setup. I have tried different APC props(12x6,13x6.5, 13x8 & 14x7) to get the ultimate performance out of my setup and APC 14x7 prop was the winner. I gave the Edge 5 star rating for the ease of build, high quality of the product and the great 3D capabilities of the plane. I have many 3D electric airplanes such as EF Extra 300 and 3D Hobby Yak 54 which are great airplanes. However the Edge 540 is the best I have so far".

The Edge is a great plane. This plane is excellent.



Building:

All the normal hardware was supplied except for a spinner and apart from that I built it entirely with extra components sourced from this site. (No 45mm aluminium spinners here that I could find) The parts all fit together nicely and require no modification. HXT900 servos fit in the servo slots without need to expand them. I like the pull-pull rudder system and the preinstalled cable guide tubes made installing the cables a simple task.

After I finished I had 2 short lengths of carbon fibre sticks left over. Not sure what they were for, they were not on the parts list. Maybe they are alternate pushrods?

Oh, one thing to watch for Don't join the 2 elevator halves before putting them through the fuselage stabiliser slot. Guess how I found out this is a bad idea...

Flying:

I have no problem with constant nosing over on landing as reported by another pilot. The landing gear does have a slight for/aft angle and I mounted it so the the wheels would be in the most forward possible position. Reversing the gear would result in wheels being slightly closer to the CG. (I did nose over when a wheel hit a divot on our field, but it did not damage the plane)

My servos dont fit. To big. Just work the holes up.

And the engine mount was not straight. But i fix it..

Great plane!!! Very nice laser cut. You can't beat this price. I'm still waiting my motor and regler, so I can't say about flying it, but it has to be very good.

excelent plane, but strengthen

this is an excelent plane when it is flying, but the only problem is landing, now if you land on a concrete strip then it is excelent buth the second you touch down on grass (even short grass) it will flip over and most of the time break the undercarridge. it is easy to fix but i have just broke my undercarrige for the thrid time from landing on cricket pitch (which is smooth!!!)



the setup i am using is all from this website and has a massive amount of power, i am also using a 3 cell 2200mah battery, here are the names to motor prop and esc that i am using:

this gives me excelent vertical.



all in all i think this plane is worth every penny (45!!!) but the only problem i have had is the UC, i would deffinatly recomend getting one if you fly off a concrete area.

This plane is great! First of all thx for very good and safe packing. The finish of the model is perfect. All the things you need are in the package. Very fast completition of plane, I get mine all together in 5 hours. Very similar plane (same design and measurements) costs in EU almost 190EUR, we get this one for half a price. GREAT BUY ! I can only recommend...

Arrive intacte. Superbe modle d'une trs grande qualit. Finition exemplaire. Je pense qu'en ce qui concerne la motorisation, un 3542 Turnigy sera bien adapt ce modle ainsi que des servos 20 G. Recommand. Bientt vol d'essai.
