WOW!! Had another two flights today of a friend's dam in South West of Western Australia, and just fantastic to fly a beautiful plane. When they come on line, just buy one, get it trimmed, and have a blast, cheers HK.

I have had this plane for some time now and can only fly when I have the chance of water, but it will also take off grass without the wheels, good training for water. WOW!!!

Just recieved my large scale Icon a5. It is a beautiful model that is well assembled. The pre-installed retracts worked well. Although I did have to modify the plywood interior to fit a large metal gear servo. this in turn caused me to cut up the ply some more to allow room for the rudder servo. Luckily the people at HK thought ahead and left the control wires long making all the modifications run smoothly. I am using the stock motor with an eflite 60a esc and a turnigy 4500mAh 6 cell battery. Lots of power with short takeoffs. the model has excellent balance but you will need to turn down your travel on the elevator, seems the design causes it to be very reactive. Cant wait till my fpv gear comes in so i can test this bad boy for real.

Hi guys well my icon is finally ready to fly all in all pretty easy assempbly. A couple of points I would like to mention.

You will need to purchase an alloy nose retract as mine failed taxiing on Ashfelt, the plastic cam failed so alloy 25 size retract should fix that.

Secondly to scheibe the correct CofG I have mounted my 3300 6s turnagy under the leafing edge of the wing on a light ply tray.

Other than were good to go!

Maiden flight today, no wheels as I fly of grass in South Western Australia, lightish winds, about 10 knots.

Skidded off the grass, drew itself into the air, has a 6S 3000 mah battery, a bit nose heavy but punched into the air really well.

Once trimmed out, flew beautifully, did a slow look, rolled OK, did laps very easily and peace of cake to land.

Then I realised, I was too excited to use flaps which woud have made both take-off and landing MUCH easier, so all good, looking foreward to next flight. Buy it, you will like it! Water should be a real hoot!!!

Got my icon a couple weeks ago, finally had a chance to build it and flew it today for the first time. I was a little leary, thought the thrust may be a bit low, but it flew beautifully on stock motor 12x6 prop, with power to spare. As in previous comments, it does have a tendency to dive when applying full throttle, just have to remember to pull up on the elevator. When taking off on water, pull full elevator to prevent diving when taking off, lands beautifully on water. Retract system is an absolute joke however, the only reason i'm not giving it full stars, i'm installing proper retract servos when i get a chance, have a couple spares laying around. I landed a few times on land already, no real problems with the front wheel, but it is somewhat flimsy so it will need to be replaced or strengthened.

Overall, except for the landing gear, this is the best plane i've flown to date (including my plastic bag specials), i get 15 mins flight time easily on a 6s 3000, and it has good payload capacity so i'll be setting up my FPV on this plane shortly.

I am working on this. The retract servo was not included as described. The screws in the nose wheel are very short. A lot of people have complained that it is weak but it seems OK but for the short screws. The plastic on the bottom around the nose gear does not cover the hole correctly. There is a massive cockpit area. It has a drain in that area. I plan to put some splash guards since water can be forced up through the guide tubes for the steering and nose retract. There is a water rudder. I plan to use the four included servos on the wings and larger servos in the tail and rudder. The rudder controls the rudder, water rudder, and nose wheel. A bigger servo should be used or separate steering and tail servos.

Bear 2

Hi HK server, finished now

25d. For removing weight I would split the fuselage to remove the undercarriage steel cross shaft plus other bits and replace the steel square section tube reinforcement for the aft fuselage and fin. I could also remove the tailplane steel mounting bolts/nuts and support structure.

e. Rear fuselage reinforcement and gluing the tailplane to the fin are lightweight solutions.

26. The manufacture did a good job on the model shape, EPO mouldings and structural integrity, rigging, supplied servos and outrunner really are problems. In all the important bits are right and the rest can be fixed?

27. Hope the enclosed has made sense and will help with another build option.
