I got this to get started in FPV at a low price. The info displayed "as is" are ok, but as many stated, it lacks the "back home" arrow. So I did as recommended and googled "cl-osd" and got started with the reprograming of the chip. Note - I used the USBasp programmer sold here by HK. I do not know anything about programming Atmegas and was a bit anxious, but it went relatively well following the step by step instructions on the cl-osd wiki. Only major issue is that my version of the G-osd has an atmega 88PA, not a 88, as describer. I only had to add -F to the avrdude instructions and it worked fine. I now have home arrow, etc!!
Very happy with the product, 4 stars because of the original software lacking back home as well as very poor manual (no polarity indications? )

works ok right out of the box. Now I'm looking forward to change the firmware to have the return to home arrow which I think is the best thing this can offer for the money.

This g-osd doesn't work: wrong coordinates, wrong speed and altitude. The only thing that works in this osd is voltages (even though it need to be calibrated via trim pot). I know there is a open source cl-osd, but I bought it to work right out the box, and not a defective osd that needs to be reflashed to work as stated.
Hobbyking, give my money back, otherwise you lost a customer!

Absolute garbage, coordinates showed up for about a minute, then never came back. Checked everything, but the unit is faulty. Would send it back if the postage wasn't so expensive. I love hobbyking, but this product isn't worth the hassle.

Can someone for GOD explain how do I conect the USB DATA MODULE (sold by hobbyking) on this G-OSD? I want to reflash the database of this osd but hobbyking did not send any manual to explain the conection between the usb data module and this OSD.

A great little ODS with GPS. It is too bad that the GPS is just garbage. It does not display the correct GPS coordinate. It can be out by 4 to 12 minutes (upto 20 km error). The system is much better when flashed with CL-OSD but this does not fix the GPS coord problem. When used with CL-OSD it is still pretty good on getting you back home. I have bought 3 so I must like it. Great value for the price, too bad about the cheap GPC module.

el gps no vale nada. vivimos a 1100m y marca 1600m. la velocidad ahora si funciono ahora no. el osd bien. pero si lo compras por el gps es un fracaso. eso si. soldar los cables a la camara y funcionar. no tiene rumbo ni indica la vuelta a casa. no recomendable. cuando tengan el bueno lo comprare poque este no sirve para micho.

Awesome OSD. Very fast satellites locking. Modded mine with CL-OSD (google CL-OSD, it's worth it) and I now have home arrow and distance from home. Only two little cons: Battery voltage was WAY OFF from the factory (but luckily adjustable), and it need two different voltages to operate (5Volts and 12volts). But that's not a big deal, so totally worth 5 stars (Hey, it's $40!!!!). Don't forget to order the USBasp programming device if you want to reprogram it with CL-OSD. (yes, it works with this G-OSD2 version).
