Great frame

One of the best tricopter frames (and one of the few) on the market. Only issue I had was the directions. They were a bit hard to decipher and not very discriptive but the pictures were a good help.

Bought this as a base for a folding Y6 rebuild of my hexacopter camera platform. I've already made 4 more motor mounts by cutting down a set of spare 4mm carbon arms I had for a 250 frame. It looked like it was going to be a good starting point for this project, But since actually having it in my hands it looks like I'm going to have to rethink a fair bit of the kit. The rear of the frame is too narrow to fit my cam/undercarriage rail mounts. I could bolt on an inch wide alloy or carbon strip to mount the rear clamps, But I think it would be a better option to just make a wider replacment carbon bottom plate using the original as a template. And while I'm at it I could do with some more headroom to fit the electronics inside, So the easiest option may be to get some 10x20mm alloy box section and remake the arms). By the time I'm finished there may not be much of this kit left. :)
As the kit arived it seems OK, Not the last word in quality, But if you were just going to run it as a tricopter and strap a statically mounted Gopro to the front I think it would be a pretty nice toy. My problems are only surfacing because I'm not intending to do that.

This is a great tricopter for the price. The only issue i had was the tilt mechanism. It isnt the best design right out of the box. ive stripped many high quality servos from mild landings. But the greatest solution is to buy the tough tilt mechanism from flitetest. with a little bit of cutting to make it fit properly, it is the best upgrade for this tricopter. I also got the battery and camera tray from flitetest and it fits perfect onto this with a little bit of drilling and is great for FPV.

The tricopterframe is well made, but the tilt mechanism has too much play. When I tried to take off, the mechanism begins to vibrate so much, that it was impossible to fly. I tried 2 different servos but always the same :/.

bought this as my first tricopter. price wise you cant beat it. for what you get it is very great. the only major problem is the tilt mechanism. the best way to fix it is to buy the tough tilt mechanism from flitetest. before i put that on i crashed a couple times and it always ruined my servo and bent the stock mechanism. but once i changed it it was perfect and everything else holds up as well. a little challenging to build too but with a little basic knowledge it comes together quite well.

Sturdy folding frame with easy setup. Exploded diagram is helpful, but the best setup help is the video available walking you through it step by step.
The motor mounts are designed to break away in a crash, saving arms and motors.
Makes for a stable platform

IMO this frame is passable and it comes with everything to be functional. BUT, the biggest issue is the motor mounts they break right away and the metal motor mount kit i found was 20 bux on amazon, no biggie, but they should have included them. Second issue is the hardware is not the best; its to long it some places, and to thinly placed in others (but still works). Third, they didn't include ANY anti vibration mechanisms like rubber washers to mount under the regular washers or rubber pieces to put between the motor mounts and frame or such. So with the extra motor mounts i bought that brought my cost with tax and shipping close to the price of the carbon fiber tricopter frame sold here on hobbyking. So, i should have just bought that one i guess. Live and learn

I'm having trouble with the yaw mechanism. If I tighten the bolt that goes through the bearings, any more than finger tight, it becomes hard to turn the motor. Is this normal, or am I missing something?
