This is my 3rd NTM motor, The 1st one was a 42-48 which I gave a good review and is still going great. I bought the 42-38 thinking it would be just as good but I'm completely disappointed with this motor.
The first 42-38 went up in smoke halfway through its first flight(3/4 throttle). 60A ESC, 4s 2200mah battery, 13x6 prop.
Thinking it might have just been a dud one, I purchased another one but unfortunately it went up in smoke on its first flight also. I won't be buying another.
After dismantling the motors I've discovered the quality of the windings are atrocious. The winding even goes over the ebd of the stator??

Its a shame about the poor quality windings because this lets down an otherwise great little motor. The case is really strong and I like the bolt on prop drive better than the clamp on style of other motors. I like my 42-48 but I cant buy or recommend the 42-38 to anyone.

Mmmm, I used this motor to replace the Detrum in my Dynam BF109. I also changed the ESC to a 60a but this motor burnt out in a puff of smoke on the first flight. I have an NTM 42-48 in another plane which is a great motor which is why I bought this one. Maybe I just got a dud?? it took me over a month to install it so....no warranty:(
............Anyway I've ordered another one and replaced the ESC (it died as well so small possibility it killed the NTM??) and see how it goes.....

I have flown this motor about 10 times, and it has performed well. I installed it on a Dynam Smart Trainer (4lbs) with a 60 amp Hobbyking ESC and an APC 13X8 thin electric prop. With the 13X8 prop, it pulls 40 amps and produces 602 watts; this gives me a power to weight ratio of 150 watts per pound - about where I want to be with this plane.

I bought this motor for a 1100mm spitfire scratchbuild that I am doing and wow this is such a good quality motor. I just recently static tested it and was getting more than 1.3kgs of thrust with a 4s and an 11x 8.5 turnigy sport precision prop.( the reason im using such a small prop is im scared of breaking it). If you are unsure then just buy it . amazing quality

Netter Motor zum umwickeln, die alte Wicklung ist ein wenig komisch, 3x 10-10-10-9 Windungen. Neu auf 9 9 in 2x AaBbCcAaBbCc in 0.95er ergibt 740 KV mit guter Khlung kann der nun 100 A Dauer. Glocke ist gewuchtet. Nicht alle Kanten sind gebrochen, also Achtung. Stator ist mit grner Farbe berzogen, ich habe direkt drauf gewickelt. Erste Lage 7 2 Lagen. Fllgrad fast perfekt. Solid well built motor, tested with an APC-E 12x6 prop, plush 60A ESC and 3000 4S 40C turnigy battery which gave the following results;

33 Amps

15.3 Volts

512 Watts

Will probably move up to a 13x6 to get a bit more power out of it.
