The cowl is built light and beautifully painted, and if youre not going to ground loop it and flip it over like Ive done, the cowl is strong enough but if the worst happens and you nose it over the cowl will suffer damage, wouldnt be a bad idea to run some extra 2oz cloth around the inside at the front and also the rear prior to flying.

Lastly is the freight which at $175US to Aussie Land is steep, however the quality of the model and the fact the equivalent models (Sebart Python) would still be dearer still makes this an attractive buy.

Overall I love it, its exactly what I was looking for in a sports model and unfortunately my aerobatics practise is suffering because Im out barnstorming with my Pitts.. 5 Stars +.

and Ive probably used full throttle four times in 40 flights, you just dont need it, most take-offs and flying are done at 1/3 to 2/3 throttle. Using this throttle control Im getting 17 minutes flying time with roughly 20% left in the 4800 packs. Be prepared to turn this into less than 10 minutes however if you want to hover the whole flight.

Well there must be some negatives? Yes there are, number one would be the undercarriage which is just soft aluminium not treated in anyway (beautifully painted though), needless to say it bends very easy. Ive corrected this by adding landing wires with springs which add to the appeal of the model as well.

Secondly is the lack of instructions which I had to find off the net and then they were in French and typically ARF lacking detail

Thirdly and this is a surmise, there must be two versions, a methanol version and electric. Mine came with the bits for methanol, namely standard engine mounts, fuel tank and some extra ply to strengthen and seal off the engine box. What I was lacking was the built up engine extension box as shown in the sales pictures (the Yak came with one, except its a different size) I ended up making my own extension with some PVC pipe and end caps which has worked well.

This is a fliers aeroplane and you need to fly it all the way to the deck to grease it in. On a large open field no problems at all, its a pussy cat to land, but on my short field I have in the back paddock where you need to get speed, decent and flare spot on every time its challenging, but as I say I love it all the more because of it, I just cant get bored trying to grease it in everytime

Im flying 3 Flight Modes and I have in effect 3 different aeroplanes. Mode 1 is with the ailerons acting as flaperons and with them all down by about 50% the thing floats around like a J3 Cub and still with no wing drops. Model 2 is normal flying model, nothing special here and then Mode 3 is just higher rates from Mode 2, the thing that surprised me was this aircraft will hover, not as easy as a profile foamy and it keeps your fingers working but it will hover quite nicely, though with the ailerons not fully inboard (for prop wash) once it starts to rolling you cant stop it.

Im flying this with electric gear, Turnigy SK 5065 380KV motor, Turnigy Plush 80A speed controller and Zippy r 6S 4800mAH running an APC 18*8E prop. This is a percfect setup and I would guestimate I would have double the power than the equivalent 91 four-stroke you would probably use in lieu, mainly of course due to the efficientcy of the prop size. This will take off in 3 feet and climb vertical accelerating and pull out of hovers with authority, of course this is not what the model is about an

Axial rolls are beautiful, the fat fuse holding it well on the knife edge, snaps are slow to start, wind up and are hard to stop, but hey it is what it is and considering how viceless it is in normal flying its nice that it snaps at all. Stalls are predictable with no dropping wings. With the nose down on approach it penetrates well, which is surprising with that big radial cowl, lift the nose for a flair and the speed washes off quickly, which takes some getting used to. In the flight regime its only possible vice (I actually see it as a bonus as its stops me getting bored) is on touchdown, the ground handling is quite hot, turns in its own length..

This aeroplane will reward you for a beautiful landing.. but get it wrong and it will punish you big time, it will bounce and make Captain Kangaroo look ordinary (thats for the Aussies reading this), I have successfully put it on its back upside down on the ground probably half a dozen times. All of which could have been averted simply by applying power and going around, but hey I like a challenge, alas in these cases I lost.

ok I now understand, theres something about them, they have character and look like a aeroplane should.

As with any scale version of a short coupled full size aircraft a Pitts is never going to be a control neutral aeroplane like a F3A patternship, expect different and youll be disappointed, this isnt an unlimited aerobat like its full size counterpart, sure you can throw it around the sky in a blurring mass but dont expect it to do anything precisely, there are reasons so much design work goes into F3A models.. enough said.

Yes it has coupling, Im running almost 40% up elevator on left rudder, right isnt as bad, however this then allows me to do hesitation rolls from one side of the field to the other, knife edge is pretty darn good as well, though dont expect knife edge loops, surprisingly even with this amount of mixing it doesnt show up badly in other areas of flight, probably the worst, as to be expected are stall turns where you can see some pitch up on applying rudder, but you can easily compensate for that.

I believe the manufacture of this aircraft deserves praise so hence this review.

Firstly Ive been modelling for 30+ years and my passion is competition aerobatics (both F3A and IMAC), Im from the time when if we wanted a competition model we had to build it, for that reason I like to think I have a pretty good handle on how to build a straight and light airframe. Ive sat and watched the ARF industry grow, always with a certain smugness that I could still build better and lighter, well this particular model (along with Yak 55 I also have from the same company , dghaikong.com), has put me back in my place. This is an extremely well engineered, built and finished model. If youre like me and you read a sales pitch like Amazing Quality, you go yea yea.. sure! Well this time its a true statement, one particular bit of the model that impresses me is the rib cap strips have been laser cut back into the forward and rear wing sheeting, awesome bit of work and surely must improve the overall strength of the structure.

How does it Fly..well after putting probably 40 flights on it. I love it. After recently moving to electric 6S and acquiring my normal pattern type model a Sebart Angel S (which in itself deserves rave reviews), I was looking for something to fly to give me a break from practising schedules, I wanted a sports model that was different, had character and was just fun to fly. Ive never owned many biplanes and often wondered what the hype was about, ok I
