errata on ch

Feb 04, 2018

Sorry, I made a mistake. I went back and looked at my xmtr channel mapping and channel 4 is the one that will silence the no signal change beeps. Channels 2,5,6 may also work

More info on beeps

Feb 02, 2018

More info on alarms using mode 3
On power up unit will beep once if ch 1-8 are on output pins
On power up unit will beep twice if ch 9-16 are on output pins
The blue led cycles through one two or three flashes repeated in a grouping for signaling if mode 1 ,2 or 3 are in use Every 100 or so groupings the unit will start beeping if the channel 1 or 2 has not changed. This is somewhat annoying if you are bench testing a setup, as you have to continually wiggle the ch 1 or 2 stick to get some piece of mind and not wake up the whole house. I do not know if this feature can be turned off.
The unit does work down to 3.7 Volts and drive the servos. Around 3.4 Volts it goes into another continuous beep alarm until below 3.3Volts it quits working. The servos do not become erratic but just stop working. There must be some brownout protection working .
I do not know about the alarm setup on the other modes. Anyone out in the HK universe trying the other modes? I think I will fire up the oscilloscope and check the pin outputs and see if it is really building an sbus signal in the other modes. When the non beeping converter comes back into stock at HK I may order some to try. The beeps are really loud.

need data sheet to download

Jan 30, 2018

The data sheet that came with my unit was insufficient. HK did provide the factory data after some emails. Here is my translation.
pins 1-8 output input pins
pin 9 Sbus in, PPM in/out
pin 10 PPM in, Sbus out
Mode 1-3 is chosen automaticaly based on what input signals are detected. Only Mode 3 can be toggled to channels1-8 or channels 9-16 if a 16 channel Sbus signal is on pin 9 by shorting
pins 1-3 on powerup.
Mode 1 pin 9 input PPM, pins 1-8 output pwm, pin 10 output Sbus LED flashes once
Mode 2 pin 1-8 input pwm( normal receiver output signals), pin 9 output ppm pin 10 output Sbus LED flashes twice
Mode3 pin 9 input Sbus pin 10 output pwm pin 1-8 output pwm servo signals LED flashes 3 times On Powerup, default is channel 1-8 from xmtr and one beep On Powerup, if signal pins 1 and 3 are shorted, the pins 1-8 will be xmtr channels 9-16 and there will be 2 beeps
Also on low voltage the unit will continually beep. I got this by using a bad battery one time so I think there is also a low voltage alarm. I have not measured at what voltage it triggers . something to do later. I wondered why there are two beepers on the board and probably one is for mode signaling and the other is for a low voltage alarm.. I am using the 9XRpro xmtr with PXX protocol with a x8r receiver and using the Sbus xcvr
output to get channels 9-16. If it works it will be great. only bench tested for now. seems to work ok with prompt and smooth servo movement. For this setup you should have 2 beeps on powerup and the led should flash 3 times.

This converter module works OK on S-Bus receivers such as Futaba 7008 (channel8) & 7003, and H-K GR7003XS. I can decode channels 1 thro 8. However if the decoder is driven from the SBUS2 horizontal lower port on the Futaba 7008 receiver it produces regular twitches on Channel1. The other 7 channels are fine. It is probably incompatible with Futaba SBUS2, but Fine with the original SBUS also available on Futaba receivers.
