This is the second one of these I have purchased running it in a Copterx 500, no real soft start and govenor mode is rubbish too, waste of money in my opinion....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Overall a great esc, a little to short battery cables and the current recorder is way off. Compared to my EagleTree v3 logger this is measuring about 20A to LOW!!! WTH! Have ordered one more, so will compare that aswell, maybe its just a fault on this particular esc, perhaps there is a newer firmware that will fix this issue... And also the weight is not 52g but 57,5g.

I don't know what happened to my original review, but here goes again! I'm using this on a HK500TT FBL. I had brownout problems with the FuBar controller, and only partially solved them by fitting a 10,000uf capacitor. I then fitted a Hobbywing 8A UBEC, and that resolved the problem. I don't think the 4A SBEC in the Superbrain is quite up to running digital servos on a 500 size FBL heli, particularly with a V-Bar or clone type FBL controller, since they seem to be prone to browning out at relatively high voltage. I've since removed the UBEC, and run directly off a small 2s LiFe pack. I have the Superbrain ESC lead connected to a servo extension, with the red ( ve) lead disconnected from the servo extension. With the extension lead conveniently mounted on the outside of the heli, I can easily disconnect the ESC lead to hook up to the USB linker to upload my data logs. The data-logging is the thing I like best about this ESC, and I also much prefer programming the ESC from the software to doing it with the TX. All the Superbrains also have a really tight governor mode. The gain is so high, however, that you have to avoid switching between flight modes with different flat throttle curves, unless your TX has a delay function built in. Otherwise, you can wear out the OWB in a very short time. Instead, I set up a mix in my TX, to add throttle using one of the Aux levers, which become

With the data logger, it's really easy to find the best combination (brusless, ESC, propeller). Just check your real flight parameters (A-current, V, RPM, Temperature, ... ) and find easily the best propeller. Don't forget to buy the USB linker.
Will buy this ESC next time for sure.

Good product, I am using it with my Ultra Stick 40 size. Don't set the start up speed to normal though, far too slow for aerobatics. Mine is now set to Fast Start and all is good.

Got this 5days ago, fast shipping etc and so far I am impressed with it. My firmware is probably the latest ending something like 2524 **12MB 8004 so I didn't do any update. First flight: settings I chose needed tweaking so I changed the settings and timing etc and it flew well on governor mode low, I had linear throttle with throttle hold. Excellent ******

Works great except for the brake. I'm using a folding prop on a 4m sailplane, and the brake make a loud noise but does not stop the prop spinning enough for it to fold. I have to nose-up and stall the glider, before the prop will stop spinning and fold. This happens even with the Hard Brake option (there seems to be no difference between Hard and Soft brake).
Otherwise it is great, and the built-in logger is very useful to see how the motor and battery are performing. My setup pulls 77A peak on 4S, averaging about 70A, and I run it for about 20 to 30 seconds each time. The ESC is barely warm.

My favorite ESC, have over 10 of them, all in planes from 80cm up to 2,3m, soarer, speeder, parkflyer. from 20A up to 70A continus, from 3s up to 6s, works well. The only motor he was killed by, is an scorpion 4025-1390, that one is too much for him.
