Great little copter

Had Mcpx BL already in my hangar with some tuning like BL-Heli ESC and longer tail to get it more stable. I am very happy with my new Assault 100. It flies great out-of-the-box, it's very powerful, good quality and parts are interchangeable with my Blade Mcpx BL and many other more economical models.
Used a Lemon Satellite with an Orange receiver to bind it to my Taranis with an Orange RX Spektrum Module with no problems. Unpacked the satellite from the plastic cover to safe weight and attached it with double sided foam tape on top of the on-board electronics.

Nice heli when it works. I bought two. The first one had the tail motor go bad. The second one has a stutter on the main rotor until it eventually starts (bad connection or bad esc perhaps). So, QC is awful but the heli fly nice. I guess get two and swap parts until you get one working.
Also, HK seems not to have replacement parts in stock...

I was quite pleased with the Assault 100 initially. It was very stable with lots of power and good tail authority. However, after 10 flights the tail motor literally fell apart. Unfortunately, the parts have to be sourced out of Asia which means a 6 week lead time if you are in the US. I hope US parts support and additional batteries become available soon.

Tested this recently using an Orange dsmx sat and Spektrum radio. Binded no issue, all channels operated as expected. Assault 100 flies (and sounds) like a MCPX BL, except it has been quite toned down in the provided setup specs (probably for beginner like performance). To make it more lively and perform more like a current day heli, upped the eta to 90 on ail/ele and 80 on rudder. Also changed the rudder expo to -30 to get more reaction around rudder mid stick. It has plenty of power, very little hesitation on pitch pumps, no bogging down. Very stable and well set up. Blades track well and was perfectly set up for 0 pitch at 50pcnt throttle stick. Flies for 4 1/2 minutes on the standard battery, 3.81v left. Seems really great value for money, and spares are available and low cost. My only gripe on the quality side - on powering up the 2 rear servos do not always operate. I have to check that all servos operating before taking off, must be a board issue. Need to power cycle until they do (sometimes 3-4 times). If this continues, will notify HK and request a fix. Good trainer heli
