Will not work with my spectrum system. Engine sound will not change with throttle change. Easy hook up, appears to be well made. But not worth the price.

For the money this sound system was a good value. Just one sound, none to choose from but adds a little fun to your RC plane. Very easy install.

Neat bit if kit. Sounds ok, especially the start. Responds well to throttle. Only complaint is that the engine noise doesn’t cut off through the radio - you have to unplug each time. A switch would be acceptable instead. Good fun though.

I fly flat field electric and thought that it would be a laugh to have a flat four Lycoming sound coming from my Java electric glider.
The supplied speaker is deeper then the fuselage so I constructed an external box from foamboard and installed the box on the CG under the wing mainspar.
The sound is most realistic, presumably comprising a recording of a clattery electric self-starter from a Cherokee or something similar, combined with looped audio recorded at different rpm from a fullsize flat-four.
There is one disappointment which I could not get around even playing with throttle trim in that when you pull the throttle stick back, the sound stays in idle rather than cutting out which I would have preferred.
One proviso to mention is that this system takes 1200 milliamps at max so I recommend a separate battery supply otherwise your BEC will be kicking in when you might not expect or want it to.
As far as volume level, in my speaker cabinet it is perfectly audible flying over at a couple of hundred feet and a low and fast flyby gives a great Doppler effect.

Sound of 9-cyl.-star-engine

This complete set (module, speaker, power adapter) is built into my 1.72 m wingspan DHC-2 "Beaver". The original plane is equipped with a 9 cyl. star engine. Of course the sound of the electric motor is poor.
The speaker is fitted into a balsa box which is in turn built into the bottom of the fuselage to achieve an optimal sound radiation to the bottom.
The result is amazing: sound like a big engine, even at rather great distance there is the sound of a far airplane!
