I love the Taranis. The only thing with this Taranis is that HK has removed the NiMh charger so the battery that it comes with becomes useless. You need to find a 12V power adaptor with the negative on the outside and it only uses a half an amp.

This radio is fantastic! Highly recommend it. Although if you do consider buying it and you are unfamiliar with OPEN TX i would recommend you to consider spending some time on youtube and watching people explain different aspects of it as this radio is complex and offers a vast number of options and customisation and as such in order to utilize it fully please read up on some of the documentation. Also make sure to update the radio when you get it to the latest firmware (watch a youtube video to assist you with that)

This is one of the best out there, but the plus is better. I wish I new that before I bought it. The one with the case and x8r receiver is much better.

There were a few issues with my transmitter, but none that really affected functionality. First, the silver cap on one of my knobs of the side of the transmitter were missing. Not a big deal, but meh, why is it missing? There was also what appeared to be an eyelash stuck inside the display between the LCD and plastic cover. That's a bummer as I'm not completely sure I can get in there to remove it. Must have happened during the assembly process. Still, it's going to drive me nuts as I can see it when the backlight it lit up. Another issue which I've been seeing a lot on the forums in the SD card. If you guys notice you're not getting any voice from the speaker or sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, pull the SD card out in the back and check to see if there are ink marks. For some reason they decided to write on the SD cards contact pins with a marker (SMART!). This causes poor contact between the SD and reader pins and voice and bit maps don't always load up properly. Make sure the pins are clean, push the SD card in and out several times to make sure the pins are all clean. Problem solved. Aside from that, everything works as it should. Amazing transmitter packed full of features for a great price. I'm not a huge fan of OpenTX though, I find it needlessly complex and a bit difficult to understand. I learned spectrum and Turnigy 9X systems with ease. I'm having trouble

By now, you've probably heard several people mention how great this radio is. And I hate to break it to you.... but they are right. This radio has pretty much every function you ever need. Just get a X8R receiver unit and you're good to go. Just a heads up though, this radio has a much steeper learning curve than most other brand named ones because it is so capable, so take your time and set things up right before crashing your plane/heli. One common problem I had and I see on the web, is the speaker buzz, there are lots of fixes out there and I'm gonna try them in due time. I hope Frsky fixes this issue in future versions.

THIS IS THE MOST FANTASTIC TRANSMITTER EVER ! I HAVE USED THIS TX TO OPERATE BOTH ELECTRIC AND SLOPE MODELS AND FIND PROGRAMMING QUITE EASY USING LOGIC. I WISH I HAD THIS FrSKY STUFF YEARS AGO, PERFECT AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, BUY ONE YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY

This radio is AMAZING! it has endless functionality. Firmware easily updated with the opentx companion, programmable via computer, tons of features: mixes, curves, rates, flight modes, programmable switches and pots, voice feedback and many more. The new 2000 mah battery gives about 6 hours of flight time and comes with a preloaded 1GB SD card. The jr module bay in the back gives you a lot of options to expand. All in all an amazing radio for little money but not recommended as a first radio.
