Oh dear, it does appear that HK use the same supplier as HiModel for these clamps. They also went from being nicely finished aluminium to having a very poor finish with what looks like wood grain rings, most likely from the drop saw they used to cut the sections out of the extrusion, but then didn't bother to polish the surfaces flat. Utter rubbish and look nothing like the photo depicted above.
Just looks like I need to bypass the regular suppliers of these things and go direct to other AL clamp manufacturers (alibaba/aliexpress).
