By far the worst quality part I've bought from HK, so badly mismatched that it is useless can not fit in the heli frame and two halves dont line up so you cant install bearings. Even filing will not help its way off.

Gunmetal grey like the old HK parts *not* black as shown in picture. The edges of the two halves are slightly different and don't line up exactly. This seems to be how they were made, not a manufacturing flaw. Most egregious is the tubular end where the boom exits the block which is beveled on one half and has a round edge on the other and looks completely different on each side. All the screw holes and bearing holes line up and are the right dimensions and it holds the boom tightly. It's functional but cosmetically it looks terrible.

I purchased 500 cmt and found that tail boom was too long with no adjustment, after purchasing this metal tail boom holder, I had plenty of adjustment, and is much easier to work with when changing drive gears, GREAT UPGRADE!!!

I managed to install this in my HK-500 as an upgrade because the orginal plastic tail boom box from my initial kit allow the tail boom to flex. After installing this upgrade (which I had to force it the bearings into the bearing seats) I took it to the field to test and the upper bearing holder wore being too tight and the part is damaged and needs replacing one more time. The concept of a metal tail boom holder is great but this need to go back to the drawing board making the upper and lower bearing properly fit. If you buy this and install it you will be replacing it after a 7 minute flight. I'm very disappointed of this item by the quality but I'm still a big fan of the Hobby King organization as a whole....

Don't bother with this. Mine was too tight and not true. On take off it course MASSIVE vibes in the tail. So bad that it broke a control rod guide. Very dissapointed.

I was amaced by the quality of this tailboom holder. Much better than the plastic one. It fixes and secures the boom better than the original one.

My tail block DID have a peg inside to keep the boom from rotating. Only issue is I had to flare the rim of the tail boom to prevent the belt from rubbing on it. Great upgrade. No issues with bearing alignment on mine. Make sure you use GREEN loc-tite to seal the bearings in place!!!

Very nice part if you have some patience to make it fit. Holds boom very tight by placing boom hole in pin and use teflon plumbing tape.

My tail drive bearings fit in OK but when assembled and tightened, they were being forced down on the shaft stops. By taking a small file and working slowly on the upper and lower suraces to make some clearance, the bearings and tail drive shaft are running smoothly. Considering the price and availability, excellent upgrade. This combined with the metal bottom plate and battery holder make a massive increase in the frame strength! Must do upgrades to your 500!
