Hire a manual-writer who has, once in his life, spoken to an English-speaking person! The "manual" starts half-way through the build, is very difficult to interpret, and leaves out about half of the necessary steps, leaving the builder to figure out what to do, in what order, on his own. And those two wing-screws! I DEFY you to thread those through the tight wooden washers, through two wings and down into a tee-nut that is buried in the foam of the fuselage. Not humanly possible! Everyone I talked to who has this plane admits that they either gave up after getting one screw in place, or gave up entirely and glued the wings on. Nice finish, though. Perfect for first time flyers and FPV lovers!
If you crash a little bit of CA and you are back in the air!This glider flies extremely well. Slap in a Turnigy d2826-6 motor,Turns into a rocket. Used a Turnigy 45 amp...2200 battery, 7 x 5 prop. Wing spars on fuselage and wings. I just bought another one tonight. I really recommend this plane.What an excellent model. Ive had the plane a week or so now and had about 20 flights. The kit arrived very quickly and was built over a long day with a couple of hours the next evening finishing off. The kit went together really easily, it was short a few screws for the control horns but no biggie, I needed to extend the power leads from the speed controller so I could reac them whilst plugging in the battery pack. Im running the standard motor & prop that came with the kit and a 30 amp sc, all ok exfept the supplied props are pretty poor, I had severe vibration until I balanced up the prop, I had to scrape so much off one blade I had to get a dustpan and brush...no kidding!! With a 2200 3s pack I needed an ounce of nose weight but that will probably be slowly removed as I get used to the plane. Im getting around 35 minutes in climb and glide type flying, the bixler climbs at about 70 degrees and gets high really quickly, it thermals as well as any pure glider of equal size but will really hustle if thats your choice. I cant recommend this model highly enough, its great in every way.A bit fiddly to assemble and stuff doesn't line up exactly. Also no glue is included (wouldn't be too much to ask for a small tube to stick the tail on). Mine had the wrong prop included and the motor pushed it backwards! (yes it was rotating the right way), but a spare prop soon had it in the air and it flies really well. Would be ideal for beginners and experienced pilots alikeGreat trainer, can do inverted stall turns also. total beginners should look for help to assemble, soldering required.Fantastic plane for the money. There is no reason why this should not be your first plane. The only thing that is slightly tricky is the hand launch - set your throttle to approx 60pcnt and give it a good firm throw at a slight upward angle. If you've done a glide test first, all should go well. I added a carbon tube into the fuselage all the way to the tail for extra rigidity. With this in place mine balances perfectly with a 2200 3s all the way up front. Very floaty, but a good turn of speed too. 20 mins flights are easy.I've owned several Bixlers since they were first introduced. This review is over the version 1.1 Bixler purchased March of 2016. They have really made a bunch of improvements to this airframe - addressing many of the issues that required mods in the past. No longer does nose weight need to be removed. Plywood reinforcement in the motor pod is genius. Motor mount is vastly improved. I'd give this 5 stars all the way down except for one disappointing issue - the motor shaft is a tiny fraction of a mm smaller than 3mm so the 3mm collet supplied does not grab when completely compressed.
