HobbyKing Premium 3D printing filaments set the new gold standard in 3D filaments. Print with strong, flexible filament to create spare parts, artworks and 3D models. Silk PLA filament is a composite PLA with the main component being PLA and with other components such as polyester. It provides a great looking filament that is shiny or silky and has a semi-translucent look.

HobbyKing Premium PLA has a lower melting point and prints easier than other materials. One of the most important features is that PLA is non-toxic, and even has a sweet smell when printing. PLA has a low shrinkage rate and it is very rigid with minimal flex. This material can print extremely high-resolution models and is perfect for a wide range of uses. Silk PLA is excellent for large prints as it has low shrinkage and has a better toughness and surface gloss than normal PLA.

PLA has a huge range of vibrant colors and opacity for that perfect look whether it is artistic or utilitarian, in short, great material for 3D printing. PLA can be printed without the use of a heat bead and can stick to glass or a PCB plate with a binder such as hairspray or white glue for a curl-free print.

3D printing is a fun and exciting hobby with a wide range of uses from prototyping parts to making toys for the kids. Picking the right filament for your application is very important.

Nice colour, but brittle

I had to respool it for my Bambu Labs X1 Carbon with AMS (multi colour/material unit) because the original spool is too wide.
It looks very nice, particularly if printed hot (245 C) and slow (outer wall at 80 mm/s
However, (like all silk filaments) it suffers from low layer adhesion, so thin parts will easily break along layer lines

Awesome color 2

I have now printed a number of times with this PLA, and i am happy with the results.
Color is very nice, and the silky look is nice.
I have printed a few parts for my RC planes, and the strenght on the parts looks good.
There is no shrink when cooling. So the parts i have made fits perfect.
I use 0,4mm nozzle and 0,2mm layers at 210° and 85°celsius on the bed.
Dimafix on the glass bed. (thats why 85° bed)
This works good. And i am happy with the price vs quality to.

Awesome color

I'm new to 3D printing. So i can't say anything about quality and so. But i can say that the color is nice, and it make me think about how awesome it can look on a good print job.
I'm setting up my new Creality CR10S today. I have never done any printing, or seen it done, so i have much to learn. Wish me good luck, all you hobbyists out there, and i wish you all a happy hobby new year.✨

This filament works fine, you must choose a temperatuire slighly higher than for "normal" PLA, but you get an output with a difference in color and shininess. The temperature is printed on the spool, so you don't have to test it for your own.
