Compared to the walmart brand soldering irons I have been using this thing is great!!! No issues so far, and my soldering has greatly improved as a result, well worth it IMO. Wish I didn't wait so long to get one.

First off if you came from one of the plug in Wellers etc you will find this heats up much faster! Also the light lets you know when it's up to temp. It would be really nice if it had a readout for setting the dial since it's a little hard to see what temp you are pointed at. But it works really well and was a lot less expensive than a "pro" version. For a weekend warrior such as myself I don't see any reason to get a nose bleed version. I am sure there are things that would set the $$$ versions apart in a professional setting but? And it takes standard replacement tips.

....soldering of wire, circuitry and related components was evident using this station. Future editions may provide wattage controls as a supplement...ex. 15W and 30W settings.
