Superb well engineered retracts. Will be fitting to HK's twin F-14. Beautifully engineered and very lightweight.

Quality of the retracts are quite good. Operating pressure is a little bit higher than expectetd, but ok. Really lightweight. Front gear is steerable.
Operating manual is missing, but other customers solved this problem by uploading files.

I got these to try in a foamy "hand-tossed" F-20 EDF - TINY plane. Since I live in a freaking DESERT (Las Vegas), grass (and anything green) is hard to come by, I wanted to install little bitty retracts.

I measured the wing thickness, saw these and for the price, I figured what the heck. Received the retracts and bench tested...very nice. I DID have to futz with the main screws holding the pivot...too tight and the gear was iffy on retraction AND extension. I loosened just a tad and they cycled fine...once I ground down the strut's grub screws. So FILE a flat spot on the strut so the grub recesses just a bit and you'll be fine.

Another thing, make sure you Locktite the screws! I taxi tested up and down the street - when I was done, I'd lost both the pivot screws on one gear. Local hardware store had 2mm screws, so it wasn't a problem.

Go light on the Locktite. Too much and it'll lock up the gear and it'll have to be disassembled to clean it up (ask me how I know :) ).

So on to the actual installation. The gear just barely fit into the wings, a PAPER-THIN layer of foam on the wing surface remains. The nose gear was the tricky part. This plane has no rudder, so the gear needed it's own dedicated servo...unfortunately, the battery is in the nose, which with this gear - being a pull-pull arrangement - means I couldn't install the servo behind the gear. So instead of the n

Here are my initial thoughts:
The packaging was what I have come to expect from Hobby King. All the little bits and pieces were in one sealed bag. No instructions were included, but those can be found on Robart Manufacturings website. These retracts are similar to the Robart 510 series.
The retract units themselves are nicely made. I did find that all the screws on the units needed to be tightened, and I would recommend Lock-tite on all the screws. The strut hole is tight which makes it hard to install the included struts. The grub screws are soft and of poor quality. The included allen wrench tends to round the grub screws out. You might look at replacing them.
The air valve was stiff at first. I had to exercise it a few times to get it to move freely. I did take it apart just to see how it works, I am curious that way. The internals looked good, no scouring, cracks, or damaged o-rings.
The air tank had some minor dents and blemishes. However, nothing that would jeopardizes the structural integrity. I pumped it up to 80 psi with no problem.
The fill valve, ah the fill valve. This is where this product is lacking, and why I will only give this product four crowns. At first it would not allow any air to pass though it in either directs. I took it apart to find that the glue, epoxy, or whatever they used to assemble the valve had plugged it. I had to go t

Great little set of retracts, and I do mean little. I would not put these on a 2.5lb model as stated. The springs are too week to drop 2.25" wheels in the wind on approach. The mounting is strange as the mounting tabs are below the surface. These work better on planes with straight back retracts because of this. I would go up to the next size for planes over 30ozs. Also if your planning on using them in a smal jet, consider where to mount the air tank, most small jets are cosummed with thrust a tube and ducts, no place for tank!

No instructions (PSI).

Nose gear Grub bolt hit side of retract.

Main Hinge screw and washer on retract will fall out if not kept tight/glued on.

Well , what can I say , like everyone on the reviews I think it really is a beautiful set of retracts.....HOWEVER....the cap to my air tank rocketed off the tank at 80psi using the robart air pump (Thank God it didn't injure me). Good thing I bought it with 2 spare tanks. I set up once again and pumped to 100psi and it worked fine for at least 8 extend retract cycles when the actuator cylinder on 2 of the units were pushed out of the fixture...exposing the inner spring ....now I'm wondering how the heck I'm gonna fix it should I use CA to re-fit or solder?....Major snag. Apart from that I still like them.

These are excellent retracts. With a little modding on my new Eflite Beechcraft Staggerwing these fit and work perfectly. Beats paying the $107 price on HH. Plus they only give you 2 retracts.Always nice to have a spare.
Keep it up HK:):):)

Excellent quality however the air connectors are very small ....I really wanted to modify it by using the same air system to run my flaps but the actuator air receptacle is larger.
