The Russian Yak-11 was an advanced trainer used by the Soviet Air Force from 1947 to 1962. It was powered by a Shvestsov 7-cylinder radial engine, and the pilot and observer sat in tandem under the stunning long canopy. The Yak-11 served as a standard advanced trainer with the Soviet Air Forces and DOSAAF. Both the Yak-11 and C-11 were used in all Warsaw Pact countries and were exported to eighteen countries, including many African, Middle Eastern and Asian countries. North Korean Yak-11s were used in combat in the Korean War, with one Yak-11 being the first North Korean aircraft shot down by US forces when it was destroyed by a North American F-82 Twin Mustang over Kimpo Airfield on 27 June 1950. East Germany used the Yak-11 to intercept American reconnaissance balloons.

The H-King Commemorative Yak-11 is based on a full-size that currently flies in Germany, the color scheme honors the French units that flew for the Russians in WW2. In late 1942, groups of French volunteer pilots began arriving in the USSR to serve in the new Normandie squadron. Wanting to distance themselves from the British, the French asked to be provided with Soviet aircraft, despite the availability of Hurricane fighters supplied to Moscow by London. The French pilots, it has to be said, were extremely satisfied with the quality of the Yak-1 aircraft. “It was lighter than the Spitfire and seemed faster and easier to fly. It takes off quickly and is very maneuverable... it’s ideally suited to snow, dirt, and the endless Russian fields, wrote pilot Roland de la Poype. Subsequently, the Yak-1 was replaced by less maneuverable, but faster and better-armed Yak-9. The pilots ended the war aboard Yak-3 fighters. As mentioned earlier, the H-King Commemorative version is based on a Yakovlev Yak C-11 that flies out of Kircheim unter Teck in Germany, registration D-FJII, and code number "5 White", in memory of those wartime French pilots.

As this is a warbird the supplied power train has been developed to produce huge amounts of torque for those big, scale warbird maneuvers. The supplied 5020-410KV brushless motor, 95A ESC, 17x10 prop, and a 6S Lipo pack (not supplied) provides masses of torque to perform huge loops, half Cubans, incredible stall turns, and lots more. Slow it down, and the Yak-11 will impress the on-lookers with slow scale flypasts with the flaps and wheels down. The Yak-11 in this commemorative color scheme looks fantastic from all angles when either flying or when sitting on the ground..

Since the Yak-11 ceased operational service, it has seen a widespread popularity among warbird enthusiasts, and highly modified versions of the Yak-11 are often seen at air races. This brings us onto the H-King Red Reno Racer version, it has a colorful, racy-looking fantasy air races scheme loosely based on the Strega P-51 Reno Mustang. Being a racer the power train for this version has been developed with pure speed in mind. Its 6S set-up uses a 5020-550KV brushless motor, 95A ESC, and 16x6 prop that will give the Reno Racer an incredible turn of speed in excess of 100mph. Seeing a model of this impressive size doing fast pylon turns near the ground is a sight to behold. Aerobatics are also a dream to perform with the Yak Reno Racer, the rolls are very axial, and looping maneuvers are big due to the abundance of power. The only limitations to the aerobatics it will perform are your flying skills.

The Yak-11 has some impressive and outstanding features such as servoless retracts, CNC machined fully functional all-metal oleo struts with gear doors, working split flaps, and an LED landing and navigational lighting system. The supplied 6S power trains offer the Yak-11 an incredible performance, whether it is the warbird, or racer version.

The ready-made EPO airframe is simple to assemble, and the motor, ESC, high-power metal gear servos, and retract system are all pre-installed at the factory. You just need to supply your own transmitter, receiver, and a 6S 5000-6000mAh LiPo battery pack.
