Metal Rotor Head

What a great idea! Neat replacement for the plastic parts and seems to hold up well. Also improves handling a bit. I bought one for each one of my Gyro-copters. Great product, great value and great idea!

I didnt really think that it would make my G2 Autogyro fly better, but it did! The bearings and additional mass of the rotorcap lets the blades spin with even the slightest movement. It used to take a good bit of speed, without spinning the rotors up with the onboard motor, now i dont even use the onboard rotor motor. The wind from the propeller gets the rotors spinning enought for short takeoffs. The only thing I wish Durafly would do, change the rotorhead, they really do break easily, and theres a million pieces to it.

It comes without mounting screws, so you need 8 M2 screws, about 10-12 mm long. Happened to have some among my heli spares. The moving part with the shaft does not have any bearings of any kind in the joint with the plates that are fastened into the wood, it is aluminium against aluminium. There is a little play here, but not much friction really. Shaft runs true and spins very easily due to the ball bearings. No screws are loctited in place, so you need to check that. Obviously the top nut is selflocking, so that was OK. The servo arms do not end up at exactly the same height as the stock head, so I had to screw out the clevices three full turns to avoid the servos fighting each other. For the record I have had some really hard crashes without the stock head breaking, so it is perhaps questionable to call this a "must" upgrade. But all in all a good buy in my opinion. Recommend.

I bought this to fit to a first-generation Auto-G without auto-start. It fits up okay but the four screws that go through the wooden plates hold the head in place are not supplied, and the screws used to secure the old, plastic head are far too large in diameter. I ended up finding some 2mm screws from my spare parts box and thread-locking them in place, with washers against the wood to give it some more surface area.
