excellent and not little 3d plane. just wished there is an easy modification to make the wings removable (if you've small car it'll hard to carry to the field)

the plane epp is tough enough for you to try that crazy moves and not worry about crashing damages if it happened.

also good as overpowered plane. I had tacon 25 and few mg servos I can get away with talon35 esc but have edgelite 50 on it just in case. hovers well and have good vertical climbing to get out of the hover

my 2 cents, 5 starts 3d trainer

This is Waaaaay to heavy its close to a 1KG without battery I tried many motor combos but it simply wont perform good 3D. another major fault is the aluminium spine. The carbon wing rods pass throu this and in a heavy landing it snaps the carbon rod. The battery has to be Velcroed on the outside instead of having a shelf cut throu. There are much better 3D airplanes out there and even thou the EPP will survive a crash tye carbon wont.

This is quite a good model but way to heavy for full on 3D on 3S. I've tried 3 different motors and even pulling 25 plus amps I can only just get it to hover. Maybe best on 4S. Anyone suggest a good motor prop combo that has hovering ability?
Installing the hinges is also a bit of a pain.

I bought this kit and its came incomplete. I ordered the ubec50A as required, received an sbec as in photo and its incomplete. there are no soldered parts for connecting to battery or motor, so need your own soldering kit, tools and glue as they are not supplied either. Make sure you buy the extra connections for ubec (sbec). Also the hinges used for connecting the flaps, rudder and ailerons are worthless, buy hinges separately.
The instructions are the worst ever, need to view youtube for instructions and still cant find any video with step-by-step instructions. this is confusing for a beginner.

Bad things:
* Hinges sucks. Very difficult to mount and really bad. Buy some real plastic hinges instead! 4 4 4 3 = 15 hinges.
* The main wing skeleton is plywood. Two cf rods is used to stabalize and mount the wings on the body. The holes where not centered in each skeleton piece. Making wing very hard to mount and missformed when mounted.
* Body skeleton is an aluminium square tube. It needs to be cut in the rear before mounting elevation. Otherwise it will not be able to descend.
* The plane does NOT take 1 hour to build. More like 4-6 if you need to solder elextronics, figure out how to mount stuff in best places etc...

Good thins:
Wings and body very straight.
Wings and body also feels kind of solid.
The plain comes packaged very well. No broken parts.
Everything feels thought threw...
Lots of bang for the buck!

I got one, and I'm very unhappy. The body contains an aluminium square tube to make it "rigid". The aluminium is WAY too thin. A rough landing bent mine out of shape. Broke when I tried to bend it straight again. Bought many planes from HK and other places, this is the most fragile I've ever bought by far! Also I had big problems balancing it, had to put the battery right next to the motor to even come close to making it fly properly. Avoid this plane, I'm sure HK got tons of better 3D planes than this.

First flight last weekend. It flys well, but feels like I'm flying a truck. It somehow manages to be fairly responsive, but still gives a slow and ponderous feel. Some more build notes. I managed to glue in the wing with a small twist, so the right wing has a little wash IN. It trims out okay in flight, but on both landings, it did drop the right wing. I glued the wing in without really thinking about washout, and the flat fuse prevents one from sighting down the wing to check for twist. My first hint was when I was setting the control throws. With the ailerons neutral relative to the wing tip, they were obviously not at the same point relative to the fuse. My recommendation is to install the servos and control rods BEFORE gluing the wing, get the ailerons neutral to the wing tips, and check them to the fuse. I would probably oval the holes in the fuse to adjust rather than trying to twist the wing during gluing, as it will undoubtedly twist back a little. Update to previous post: search youtube "red eagle 1210" Power: ntm 3542 1000kv, turnigy trust 45 esc, "apc style" 13x4 prop. Boarderline setup, 42 amps. 5 minute flight time on a nano-tech 2200 3s 45-90. 3.85 volts/cell immediately after landing.

First, a youtube link to an excellent build summary. Watch the whole thing before buying, it's only 10 minutes. I would say EVERYTHING in the video is correct.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTxWQWKkMaY

Second, my build is in progress, so no flight data.

Wings are wood and epp ribs with a thin (like 1/8" /-) epp covering, they are NOT solid epp (which is what I had expected). Two CF tubes (about 8mm x 23 inches) support the wing.

I do NOT expect this airplane to be a strong and durable as the HK writeup says, but I do think it will be reasonably strong, and I do think it's good value for the money. I just can't see the wings holding up as well as a solid epp wing, but it's also much lighter this way.

All components are rectangular foam, EXCEPT for the main part of the wing. Tails, ailerons, etc. All rectangular and fairly thick. Should be fine at low speed, which is what this is for.

I'm using the corona 939 digital mg servos ($6). They are on the low end of the spec torque (2.5 kg-cm), but are small and light. This has required me to fab all the servo trays, as the spec trays are sized for larger servos. In any event, you need a shim between the servo tray and the servo on the wings to avoid deforming the wing near the servo (youtube vid), so I just put in a plywood tray on top of the original servo cutout.

Other decent servos would be the trunigy 3317B and 3

Set up: D4023-850 Bell Motor, TP-W30A ESC, 939 MG (12.5g) servos, 12x6 prop, 2250 Rhino Bat. Fly Wt 1175g.
Just has vertical capability, 9/10 min flight time, Somewhat weak at motor mt. Looks great in air but not really acrobatic like its little brother the 880 mm wing YAK 54 EPP 3D. If you want a really fun, tough plane try the 880 mm wing version. This bigger one is kind of sluggish.

Wings are the weakest part of this plane but otherwise is good for the price.
