The FrSky Taranis Q X7S is the next step on from the original Taranis Q X7 and comes in a stunning blue case. It also keeps all the cool features of the Taranis Q X7 but adds even more stunning features. It still has all the usual Taranis features in this radio such as Receiver Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) alerts, Real-time Flight Data Logging and receiver matching.

There is the new ball bearing Hall Sensor M7 gimbals for precision movement of the sticks. It is up to you to determine what flying mode to set the radio to and also if you want self-centering spring-loaded sticks (standard) or the usual stationary set throttle.

The Taranis mixes the power of the “OPEN TX” open-source software with upgraded 6 programmable switches (4 x 3-position, 1 x 2-position, 1 x momentary) and two twist knobs. This is great for setting up your switches and controls just how you want them. Using the MicroSD card slot you have unlimited model memory options and you can copy and use all your existing model files from the older TARANIS X9D/X9D Plus/X9E/X7 making it easy to get the new system up and working.

The X7S also has a USB port for upgrades and to connect to a PC for settings adjustments. Using the wheel and center enter button makes navigating the backlit menu easy and precise. There is an audio jack output and trainer port. A new addition to the Taranis Q X7S is the wireless trainer function and it is compatible with FrSky Freelink to monitor the sensor data during the flight.

Alerts can be presented in the form of audio speech outputs, sound or vibration alerts making this extremely user-friendly. The module bay can be used for JR-type modules with other protocol receivers and also for the use of a FrSky XJT module.

The FrSky Taranis Q X7S is a lightweight, reliable, very versatile radio system that is very cost effective.

Great Transmitter

Mar 15, 2020

This is a really strong and versatile transmitter. Has very good range and is comfortable and satisfying to hold and use (although it is quite large so those with smaller hands may struggle somewhat)
I definitely recommend getting a multiprotocol module for the JR port especially if you have a number of drones or aircraft around as this will let you control all of these aircraft with the QX7s (which is sooo much nicer than some of the cheap ones that come with many devices)
What's also great is that the Mini USB port allows it to plug straight into a computer and use it to control simulators (and any other games should you wish) it can be a little tricky to get all the buttons and channels set up in a Windows PC but there several good videos on this topic on YouTube.
One negative is that the menu controls and operation can be a little difficult to get your head around at first and there is little help in the instructions manual included. However I definitely recommend checking out the Open TX university online and the YouTube channel "Project Blue Falcon" who has done a series of videos setting up and using the QX7 to it's best!
