Well this little plane arrived. I though it would of just been a foam block. Well at least the wing. To my surprise the wing was a full construct. It had ribs and CF spars all covered with a thin layer of foam. I think this will be a very light plane and a wonder to fly!

Still got aileron flutter !! The control horn is close to the fuse leaving the rest of the aileron to flex .Also the lack of torsional stiffness is inherent in the "unbreakable" material which really means "springy" or easily bent , good for crashes, but for flying , thin stabilizers need stiffness or rigidity to eliminate flutter.
Ok for slow flying

I had aileron flutter caused by what I consider is a design flaw, which can be fortunately corrected. The built up wing is sheeted with 3 mm foam which gives insufficient support for the aileron servos. (as if mounted on a trampoline). Reinforce from spar to spar beside the servo mount will reduce the movement. No provision for battery changing or internal fiddling .So make your own hatch.Wing 40mm thick ,600g with 1400mA
NTM 28-36 1800 kV , 3s , all APC props 8x4 30A 300W , 13,000 rpm
12x6 450W , 9x6 370W , Overpowered for vertical acceleration.

Did test flight last night. Plane flew about 50 meters then wings folded up as tried to climb & plane was UN-controllable. Crashed broke prop & wings just fold up. It is as if there was not enough strength in wings. I have not looked in wing as yet but wonder how it just folded up. What carbon rods are in them?

Fantastic model, loads of fun. I have been flying every day over this holiday period in the mornings and in the evenings when the wind is very light. I found it very tail heavy so added 20g of lead in the nose. I is not as indestructable as the advert says it is, but glue is my friend. Day one broke 5 props and tore the engine mount out. Day two no prop damage could perform figure eight straight and level. day three Looping, rolling, hammerhead stalls etc. So from beginner day one to intermediate by day three - this model is great to get skills on. I recommend fitting stronger hinges especially on the ailerons as by day four the model developed aileron flutter and some hinges failed. also recommend removing the undercarriage as it is too weak to land on.

I read the reviews and thought this would be a good plane - it was even better than I expected, this will be the second GeeBee I've built, most important, as others have said, is the wing cut-out needs to be enlarged carefully otherwise the fuselage will deform, if you force the wing through. The set-up I've used:

2 x HXT900 servos(ailerons)

2 x Hitec HS55's for Rud & Ele

Turnigy 2217 16turn motor & 10x4.7 Prop.

Castle-Crea 18A Firebird ESC

Turnigy 800mah 3s 20-30c Lipo.

Here's the flight review on my GeeBee. Great flying plane ... slow floaty landing all the way thru neck-snapping aerobatics. Regarding CG ... forget about achieving proper balance with anything smaller than 1000mah battery, as you just can't get enough weight forward. I ended up using 3S 1300mah batts and it balances just right. Landing gear is a bit of a joke ... too flimsy and the mounting system sucks. I installed a foam block with some ply and blind nuts where the factory mount is located. Then added a very light set of CF landing gear (PRODUCT ID: OR032-00102, $13.50) and am very happy with the result. I could have lived with the wire gear by just beefing up the mount, but I like tweaking poor designs and I'm always a bit rough on landing gear. Cheers!

Have had this Yak several months now. It was the first plane I bought that was not RTF, and one of my first planes full stop. The build was pretty slow for me but enjoyable. Flying it has been very rewarding. Initially it was terrifying as I had so little idea of what I was doing but it really holds up to punishment and can be reglued indefinitely. I just this week did a full rebuild of the motor mount. I removed the mounting foam block, shaved it down a little at the front, sandpapered things smooth then fashioned a new 3mm plywood firewall the size of the whole foam block with reinforcement top and bottom (again with 3mm plywood).

I hot-glued them in place then hot-glued the lot back onto the CF spars and now it flies better than new!

Note the fuselage on mine was twisted out of the box - its still twisted but with a small amount of AIL trim it flies true. I'm getting best performance out of 1300Mah batteries paired with a 18A Turnigy plus and the indestructable Turnigy 2213 motors. Use the prop saver that comes with it as you'll save many a prop. I had to drive out the prop save to get it to fit as I didn't see how to reverse the motor at the time.

The landing gear is terrible and mine is practically destroyed at this point and I'm scoping around for alternatives. I have a new Yak55 3D foamie on the build table but I'm sure I'll keep flying this Geeb until its

Already owned the Extra 300S EPP from the Red Eagle series of planes. Liked it so much that I ordered the GeeBee as soon as it hit the AU warehouse. Received it last week ... looks great. Actually has a better airfoil shape than the Extra, more of a thick teardrop fun-fly airfoil whereas the Extra has a thinner more flattened wing. I'll review again once it's flying!
