These lock nuts are pretty straight forward. Put it at the end of you bolt or similar item , turn it clock-wise to tighten, and wallah , secure.

I bought this for a water outlet for my boat that they sell here only to find out that it comes with it. Oh well I know I have a thousand different use for this so no great loss. They price is also good compared to purchasing this in a hardware store like Bunnings.
