Had the maiden flight today. Cant fault it. The first flight Cg was set at 164mm from LE. slightly tail heavy. 2nd flight CG 160mm from LE. this is about spot on for 3D flight. very neutral balance. You could go 150mm CG for more stable flight but then it wouldn't be as quite as flickerable. My setup is electric. Im using a E-Power GC GT5345 220Kv turning a 18x8 apc prop. powered by 10s 5000mah zippy compact. 2000watts 7Kg static thrust flight time approx. 10 mins.
Quality build. very nice covering and fibre glass cowl. Usual lack of manual and I couldn't find one online either. Saying that there is not much to do it builds quick. Some interesting control horns and rods randomly thrown in the kit, I couldn't get them to match each other so just used my own. If this was a 300.00 arf I would mark it down for those couple of points but at the price it is sold for I just cant. so what if u have to use our head, a CG calculator and spend a 5 on different control horns.
So yes highly recommended.

a while ago i placed the order for this yak 54. and when i opened the box you could tell the kit was to a high standard all fixing with the kit was fine nothing missing .. the covering was top quality and to find hinges fitted spot on. i used a 30cc agm petrol 18x8 prop and some low end servos still 10kg mg from hk fair priced servos at 6 quid each and work just fine . running a reg 6.6 life 2100 m.. c.g was a little bit more forwards than they say on the dvd .. 2 . 3/4 i made it for safe reasons you could always work your way back to tail for more 3d it will handle it very nicely. the test flight well even more of a shock 2 clicks up trim 1 click right trim.. very good a low speed handles smooth as silk. .put the tap on and move to high rates its a large shock flyer still smooth can snap when pulling hard on the elv mostly snaps to left when doing that.. like most would no bad vices really very good kit well worth every penny spent... i could have paid a lot more and got rubbish .. from other kit makers ..

I brought one of these planes, fitted a OS GT33, and first flight went really well, usual trim required but a very nice plane to fly. Mixing rudder to elevator minimal, rudder to Aileron minimal. I had to buy extra control horns, cables filters and other stuff to complete the plane but it was worth it, I am very happy and surprised with how it turned out.

Great Plane it is rock solid when flying, balance was spot without any juggling around. the tank was 3/4 full for the test fly but the control throws were a bit high. and along with first fly nerves it was a slightly twitchy but looks fabulous see the video!

Actually a nice quality ARF. Bad part is that CD/manual is for some other model - pitch it. Very simple with few parts so easy enough to figure out. I'm using a Turnigy 26cc gas motor with side mounted carb since it has a round cowl. Plenty of room to work inside. You need to mount as much as you can forward to get the CG right. I went with larger wheels and no pants. Upgraded the hardware.

With the flash sale going on I couldn't resist buying a second one.

This plane comes with a manual that doesn't match the kit and none of the hardware provided is the same as that shown in the manual listed under the files tab in the online add. Other than that, it appears to be of good quality construction and the covering is nice. If you can sort through that, it looks like a winner.

The build quality of the plane is superb and good value, the fittings let it down and are not always suitable for a large gas model. my kit was minus 4mm bolts to attach the alloy u/c,the clevis's were heavy duty 3mm units but the threaded rods to connect with the servo's were standard 2mm dia as were the servoarm connectors and i have had to replace these with suitable 3mm rods and clevis's.The manual on dvd does not use a yak 54 in its build sequence , so is hard to relate with the supplied yak 54 arf kit.i hope these short comings will be put right on later production kits.Still a beautiful plane even with minor niggles

I have flown this about 10 times now and all the joints I have had to apply ca to about 90pcnt of them because they became loose. if you plan to buy this it does fly very good ! its one of my favorites, but please double check all the glued joints and make sure they are tight !

I have one of these planes with a DLE 30 upfront and she flies very well...straight up and a very short take off. Very smooth in the air. Have only had three flights so far. Would like to see the mfgr put in a bit stronger wood for undercarriage. Have seen many ripping out on slightly heavier landings that should have been Okay. Have used a nice white 18x 10 prop I got from Concept Hobbies on the gold coast.
