This plane is exactly what I was looking for. It went together very quickly, perhaps an hour total build time, and it flies great. I wanted a nice, slow airplane to fly at the local park when I didn't want to drive out to the club field, and this Slow Sick should do the trick.
The manual did not include recommended throws, and I set mine a little bit too aggressively for the first flight, but after a few seconds of chasing the plane around the sky I settled down enough to land smoothly and reduce the throws by half. I programmed multiple flight modes after that so the plane can be very docile with low rates, or pretty aggressive (for what it is) with high rates.
All in all I am vry pleased with the plane and I think I'll have a lot of fun with it.Looks like alot of fun. Took it out of the box and looks nice. All seema to be there.Enjoyed my maiden flight right up to the wings snapping off and the plane plummeting into the ground, the fault was the weak thin spa supplied, I would have rated lower if it wasn't an easy and cheap repair, i would suggest running some thin metal tube in conjunction with the wooden spa for strength, it would be good if hobbyking supplied a carbon fiber one in its place but for the price I wont get to cranky, flies well all in all, very easy to flyReally enjoying flying this.
Got a Stickmount 20 engine mount from int. warehouse,
after slightly perpendicular landing approach.
Turned aileron throw down a bit,
couple of dabs of ca on u/c and tailwheel wires.
Needed approx. 50g noseweight.
GOOD FUN!!Just got this as I wanted something slow and simple after a long hiatus from RC flying. I bought the PNF version; most of the things are already preinstalled and minimal time was required to get it flying.
Maidened it with light to moderate wind conditions. Doesn't really track true, and constant control inputs are required to maintain level flight; does fly slow and was fun nonetheless. Flight time was indeed as advertised with a 2s1300.SS all put together after making a couple of mods. 1st to addressing the white plastic parts which have been reported of how brittle they are. I spoke to my local model store who suggested I cover them with a product called " Supa Fix. Not cheap (10 ) "It's a two part product. 1st you get 2x bottles of Reinforcing powder and 2nd 2x bottles of Ultra strength adhesive. Sprinkle the part with powder ( Black or Grey ) they both come in the pack. Then apply the adhesive. Goes off to rock hard in 7 seconds. I will also make the holes a little bigger in the guides for the push rods as one is binding. Packing tape has been applied to leading edges etc. RobJust received my slow stick 19.00 last night (26/5 15). Placed order on 22/5/15. Very well packed. All items secured in bags which were taped to the inside of the box. Stick itself was secured in purpose made foam blocks which were glued to the base of the box. All parts seem to be in place. Have been reading as to use UHU POR glue so have found some on ebay 4.18, 50ml tube. Will collect from Argos tonight. All around great plane! Yeah, the plastic motor mount could be better, Mine is cracked but hasn't failed yet but I need to get a new one. I fly on a 2200 Mah 3S and this plane has tons of power. The plane has a large speed envelope but I think larger ailerons would help a bit with its slow speed maneuverability, not that it's bad, I just think it would be better. It is actually very aerobatic for what it is and take offs are a dream as it gets up in just a few feet. I actually had this plane for a year before I flew it, boy was I missing out! Really no real issues so far except for the motor mount and the landing gear likes to work its way out so I would recommend securing the gear to the stic with a zip strip or two in case it works free and you wont lose it. Great plane though, easy to fly and would be a good one to learn some bank and yank on although it does have a rudder which I rarely use unless I'm trying an occasional knife edge.Got my new slo stick from hobby king. Shipping sure was quick.Seems like that has been improved quiet a bit. When i opened the box i was really impressed with it.Went together great.Went and flew itand it flew great. While flying i noticed it got tail heavy. when i got it down with no problem. The weight in the nose had came loose.Removed tail assembly put glue on it pushed it back up to the nose.I reccomend checking weight first with a piece of wire.Other than that no problems.Iwould recomend this plane. It flies great lots of fun.The 4 channel makes it perfect .Great for low low and slo. Think i will learn a lot from iton the up and down thingie u need to check the down thrust angle,as a rule of thumb i use 3-6 degre of down thrust on right thrust i use 3-4 u can eyeball it or just ad shims till u get it where u want it trial and error use washers thin ones till u get it right then measure and make a spacer or buy shim plates from hobby shops or use watever u have to make it work so for down u need to use spacers on top of motor mounts to get down thrust and use same on right side motor mount to get right thrust hope this helps my plane climbs slightly when i go full throttle but i like it to climb not nose dive
