Fabulous

Dec 14, 2018

The Rx unit is the updated one, with switching power supply. Used with ULRS, I'm more than satisfied. You can even reflash it for beacon application (see tbeacon.org). For both use follow RCgroups.

Note to users of (old) JR radios

May 29, 2018

The 6v pin is grounded on these modules, which is a big No-No for an old JR/Graupner radio as it will fry the 6v regulator. In order to avoid such nuisance either "cut the trace" on the module, or cut the 6v output wire on the radio.
See https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=27102426&postcount=1 for the detailed pinout.

Works out of the box with OpenLRS Gitsly. Bluetooth adjustment needed for latest openlrsng

May 13, 2018

The combo comes with openlrsng 'gitsly', i.e with specific mavlink support. As a result the bluetooth module is setup for 57600bps. In order to use regular openlrsng and chrome configurator one should adjust the BT module for 115200bps (or hack the code so as to modify serial.begin(115200) in TX.h file)
The BT module is basicaly an HC-06 module that can be programed with a terminal such as the arduino IDE serial monitor. Just connect the module to an FTDI adapter (do not forget to reverse the rx/tx pins). Power the BT module, do not bind any BT device as it stays in programming mode while not paired (led should keep blinking). Send "AT" (without quotes) module should reply "OK" then "AT+BAUD8" response should be "OK115200".
NOTE : Do not use putty as the module is expecting the full AT command to be written as a whole not on a character per character basis.
The receiver cannot be flashed with an FTDI adapter, you will need an USBASP adapter.
The transmitter module is limited to ~500mw in order not to max-out the power regulator of the radio. I've fried quite a few 0.5A fuses while "binding". The voltage regulator of the module is noisy which somehow confuse the transmitter. I am considering adding either a DC filter or a dedicated UBEC in the transmitter case.

Good quality, good hardware.

May 03, 2017

Great quality built, Flashed RX with 3.8.8 firmware using Arduino and USBASP 3.3v. It is working perfect after that. Bluetooth a little hard to configure but it works. Still to do a range test, i have no doubts it will perform ok. I am willing to see how 1w telemetry works. Good job Hobbyking.
