Now this is from a mechanical moron, really, if I can do it, anyone can. Simply remove the two grub screws from in front of the bell and tap out the shaft with a light hammer. Fit the washer and 'c' clip on the new shaft and replace. Fit the grub screws and tighten. "Bob's your Uncle" as they say. The whole proces takes a couple of minutes.

I used one of these to replace the shaft on my stock decathlon motor, park 250. I cut the prop end down to proper length and am using with prop saver. Works much better than the stock setup that came with my Decathlon with the spinner collet. The original shaft would bend with any little bump.

I purchased this product, waited a month and all I received was the cardboard it was sent in. Your answer is it's my problem and thats that. I am happy I didn't order a high priced part. This will be my last order from Hobby King if this is the way you treat your customers.

Tower Hobbies and the rest. If you are not happy with Hobby King then lower your prices. 99pcnt of the stuff you sell is from China and you make huge profits jacking up the price. Thank You HK for putting these companies in their place with they over priced products.

solid shafts and 2 minutes to replace.

Loosen grubs that hold the Bell in place. Remove bell push shaft bacwards leave clip in place to remove. Put in new shaft put on clip, tighten grubs that hold bell in place ' We race these motors 7 days a week on a F22 with a mid prop set up. Want to stop bending shafts? put on a prop saver. I even use long thin elestic bands in place of the rubber prop saver band they last about 30 flights.

I think this is the fourth pack of these shafts. All have been consistently and acceptably produced. Rather than try straighten a shaft after any type of incident, I prefer to replace. The 2408 is so quick and simple. I wouldn't be without some spares because I operate three of these motors in aircraft that are often subjected to risky conditions for fun.

I would like to see sets of good quality bearings for sale. It would be good to see a slightly harder steel used for the shafts which do bend rather too easily. The most common bend points are on the outer bore of the bell (about 1 cm from where the thread ends), exactly on the ground notched face for the lug screw key and finally right in front of the forward bearing. Once, I got bends in all three of these positions! Yes, that motor is going as good as new.

So how about a little more carbon in the steel? Might be easier to go for a 3.5 or 4 mm shaft and accept the increased weight.

In the meantime, I am thinking about hardening a shaft using the good old fashioned heat and cooling treatment. Bit of an experiment.
