    After the huge success of the Turnigy Evolution, the Evolution PRO is designed with the drone flier in mind and is still amazingly compact for easy backpack transportation.


    There are many new features and updates to make the Evolution PRO the best radio around. Starting with a repositioned on/off switch and a new lanyard attachment point for easier use. There are now stiffer springs to help the sticks and a repositioned screen so that people that are “pinchers” have better control of the sticks plus the user now has access to stick calibration. A momentary button has been added which is great to use as pre-arm on quads. For those that had trouble hearing the buzzer the sound has been made louder and there is haptic feedback. Now you can store twenty different models (instead of five) for easier swapping of models. Firmware has also been updated from the Evolution.


    The ergonomically designed case makes for easy use of all controls. The switches are all positioned for comfort and the adjustable length sticks can be tailored to your own requirements. Speaking of sticks, the high quality, ball bearing gimbals are clear and have color changing, programmable LEDs that can change color with the use of the sticks. Two 3-position switches on the back can easily be set-up to change the flight modes. A large monochrome backlit LCD Touch screen makes it easy to program and change the settings in both daylight and night-time.


    The Evolution PRO uses the solid and reliable 8 channel 2.4GHz Automatic Frequency Hopping Digital System (AFHDS 2A) spread spectrum technology, making it compatible with the iA6, iA6B, iA6C, iA10B range of receivers. The system is supplied with the Turnigy TGY-iA6C Receiver for SBUS/IBUS and CPPM support. Twin omnidirectional high gain antennas are built into the outer case to provide an even more secure radio link and to protect them from damage.


    Each transmitter hops between 16 channels in order to reduce interference from other transmitters. The transmitter and receiver have their own unique ID to prevent other RC systems from accidentally connecting to or interfering with the Evolution PRO. There is even a mini USB port for easy charging via a power bank (power pack) or phone charger / USB charger / PC. This can also be used for updates (via PC) or to use the Evolution PRO transmitter as a controller for your favorite RC simulator programs. Now with the ability to disable the RF signal while using simulator mode.


    The Evolution PRO comes in either Mode 1 and Mode 2 and is available in black or white for each mode. Get yours now for easier flying.

    Firmware Bug Found

    To add onto Ryan's review, I have located the same bug, but narrowed it down: Firmware Bug Found:
    If you are charging the transmitter with it powered on (or connected to a PC and using it for a sim), swap to one of the onboard models, press the return button, select Y.
    Then return to the model selection screen, select another model, press the return button; select Y again. This will cause the transmitter to freeze and become entirely unresponsive to touch or button input (power button included).
    Besides this glaring flaw I generally like the controller, particularly at the (on sale) price point of $35 AUD w/reciever.
    It would be nice however, to ease the pain of lack of trim toggles, if the FLY MODE function would allow for adjustment of stick values. At present you can set the fly modes to adjust channel values for the three unused channels (ch5,7,8), but not for CH1-4.
    Another minor one, why can't we set different colours/colour modes per gimbal? The default green-red gradient is neat, but the right stick is always centred, so it should turn red any time it goes to an extreme, as opposed to doing the same thing as the throttle stick.
    For $35 it's a solid recommend, provided the buyer is aware this is NOT aimed at fixed wings (although it should lend itself to them a bit more). Hope to see firmware updates in the future.

    Good Short range transmitter.

    Easy to use with up to 9 craft! Only complaint is that sometimes when switching between craft the menu crashes (After selecting a "model", and then selecting Yes in the "Are you sure?" confirmation pop up, it gets frozen at upon selecting yes), and then the only way to use the remote again is to remove the batteries. Not sure if this has been fixed in a firmware update...

    Hi All, just got one to be used for one of my DLG's. I wanted to update the firmware according the manual where they advice to get the latest from Hobbyking.com
    But when I look at the Manuals/files tab there is only a manual to be found but no firmware.
    My Evolution Pro currently has firmware file 1.13 from 05-12-2018. Can someone confirm if this is the latest or which one I should need and where to find the file.

    I'm very disappointed.
    Described as suitable for helicopters, but it's not due to the missing mix functions.
    My cheaper seven years old RC has more functions than that.
