Well guys, after using many different Turnigy motors from 15g to over 500g units with great success, I have to say I'm very disappointed with this unit.

When it arrived, it looked "cheap". The 2mm dia pitch control rod fits sloppy in the 2.5mm hole in the 4mm motor shaft. This results in play on the head unit and allows the prop blades to move in pitch. You need rigidness here.

The motor itself weights 43g and so should easily consume 150W to 200W of input power. (Based on many Turnigy motor/prop combinations of power tests). After ensuring the prop was balanced using my magnetic turnigy prop balancer (an awesome product), I hooked up the motor to a 25A Plush controller, 2100mAh turnigy battery and my trusty Wattsup meter. (another solid product from HK).

I gave short slow power bursts, inially with no pitch and gradually increased the pitch. Sometimes there was vibration, other times none. Holding the pitch control rod helped reduce vibration. Finally, the head let go and went flying. This was at around 160W on the the meter. The blade broke and the mount snapped off (plastic parts).

After examining the motor, I found that the bearings were shot and windings/magnets were rubbing. The motor was warm, not hot to touch (sorry did not use my Turnigy thermometer)

I have a feeling that the blades are too big for this motor. They weigh 9g each and with any significant

Performance can be improved by turning the motor and re-attaching the prop assembly.
