Well I maidened my Alpha Jet on Saturday and it flew beautifully right off the bench! Retracts worked well, just a couple clicks of aileron and elevator trim was needed.
However, the ESC crapped-out during the maiden flight! ...DEAD-STICK, got it landed safely, but this ESC is shot!
Contacted HK this morning, and they want me to send them a video of the dead ESC .....go figure? They want a video of a DEAD ESC just sitting on mu bench?
What idiots!

Came nicely packed without damage. Very easy build..took about 3-4 hours. Landing gear requires abit of adjusting but seems to work ok...not sure how long it will hold up tho.
On the maiden flight the motor packed it in at about 3 mins into the flight. I never used the stock esc, I switched it to the red brick 125 opto and run a 2s 1700 reciever pack off a BEC. The plane took off very nicely and had ok power. No trimming was needed at all and the recommended CG points are dead on the money. The Alpha seems to have no bad habits and was very predictable to fly with full throws and 30pcnt expo. It could probably use just a tad more elevator so I'm bumping it up to 115pcnt. The plane has a very good glide rate...which I had to find out the hard way...but I was able to get it back from a long ways out and put it nicely on its belly on the grass. No damage to the plane at all! Over all I'd say a good buy but don't use the stock esc or motor. The same motor I've seen offered on other models but only rated to 5s. In the description here the plane is recommended to use a 6S batt...I think it's only a 5S motor as the screws were melted into the housing telling me the motor was way too hot...and it was minus 2 the day I flew it.

Hello, i just received today this kit from HK, please be advised that my kit came with a 70Amp ESC and NOT an 80Amp as they advertise. Im trying to correct this and opened a support ticket with them, let us see how will this ends.



Will keep you posted on more issues found.

Would I buy this jet again? Not a chance. Would I recommend to a friend? Not a chance. Everything in this great big jet is glue. There are no wing screws??? The Wing is 100pcnt glued down to the fuselage. Ok...so I've got real strong glue and it's probably on there real good, but how about replacements? Then the kicker... This great big edf has not even been on the field or in the air yet, and all 3 of the gear servos fail.
Now I'm making this into a belly lander. Definitely not what I had in mind when I bought this big jet.

Im not sure how to rate this Jet as I can not fly mine due to the faulty ESC that came with the jet. Sent it back to HK in May and now it is the end of August and Im still waiting for a replacement ESC. If I do get a replacement, I will rate the Jet however right now, I'm not a very happy customer.

Motor packed up on maiden flight . Big puff of smoke on take off and into two pieces. Tested ESC with diff motor and works fine ... Not happy.........................

this kit gets the 5 stars, mine came from HK as the U.S. warehouse did not yet have it. Very well packed and looks great. not yet put together but it's baby brother flies good. Hope this one indicates the correct CG
