    great product

    I bought one of these about a year ago and was very pleased with the quality and accuracy of the heat adjustments. It came with a very nice long cord, which is very handy for using in the shop. I have a couple of other older designs that still work okay but have to use a seperate thermometer to adjust the temperature. The price has gone up considerably since I purchased mine, but still worth the investment.

    I plugged in the iron for the first time, temperature dial was set at 140 deg. Tested it on a scrap, it looked good. Then I applied a patch to a wing covered in Oracover. The covering immediately melted. I checked the temperature with a laser thermometer: 412 degrees!!!
    I tried all settings on the temperature dial, but nothing shut off the iron.
    Not only did the temp adjustment not work, the temperature varied over the surface of the iron by over 60 degrees.
    Not a usable product.

    Arrived undamaged and quickly. Works perfectly. Watched some videos on YouTube and used "new stuff" from Aloft hobbies to cover the wings on my night radian.

    short lived

    I have or rather had 5 of these covering irons. They are very good at what they are supposed to do. Unfortunately, they have a short life. Of the 5 irons that I had, 3 of them have stopped working. I can cover 2 planes, on average, before the iron quits.

    Very useful with the temp dial. Also, very accurate temperature settings. Only issue is durablity. Does not last as long as rival units.
    Still a good deal as the price is low enough to offset the longevity of the unit.
