Got mine last week, and got it ready to fly in less than one hour. Noticed 2 servo screws loose so had to tighten them. I always use stabilizer/gyro for park flyers to protect my investment! No exception. It flew well on 2S-750mah 50C battery. Flew high and glided nicely after adjusting CG by putting the smaller battery and flight stabilizer together forward. Motor is powerful but very noisy. A better motor with better prop would have been quieter and smooth. Canopy could have been better fitted. It rolls and loops fine. It has a heavy feel to it compare to my other glider (E-Flite Radian), but I am happy for this purchase given it's price.Absolute rubbish. Bought as a first plane for my son. Too fast and twitchy, even with dual rates and plenty of expo. Cannot recommend this at all.quit small than i have imagine but it okI bought my first Firstar200 for some fun in the paddocks, I am an intermediate pilot with reasonable flying skills, in stock format it flies OK but I wanted more performance and thrust for windy conditions and fast flying so I fitted a floater jet motor with a 20amp ESC and a 5x5 prop, a Zippy 1000mah 3 cell battery just fits in the nose this makes the COG correct for the heavier motor on the back, total flying weight is just under 300 grams. The finished result is a fast and very manoeuvrable little plane, lots of fun in the paddocks.Superb flyer! This is my second plane after BIX 3. Flies great, of course it is little more sensitive to wind than bixler, but regarding size it must be like that. Need strong throw to start, be careful to throw it into headwind, if not, can be easily overturned by wind. I fly it with zippy compact 850mah battery, average consumption is 1.1mAh sec when flown relatively fast and aerobatic. Can do loops easily, inverted flight also. Cheap radio with receiver, 3-4 batteries, charger, and You are ready to go with not too much money. Small size of this plane is not obstacle to being good first plane.
Only downside is wing mounting sistem, after 1-2 hard landings, wing got some play, so i simply hot glued it.When I was trying to get into this hobby, this the Firstar 200 was the first thing that really helped me bridge the gap between RTF trainers, and PNF/ARF planes.
I had a little RTF supercub and spent dozens of hours flying and learning it, but each time i took out my Bix 3, I couldn't get airborne for more than 3 seconds.
I purchased the Firstar to help me take off my training wheels, but it ended up being so much more than that.
This little bastard is absolutely outstanding in nearly every way. It flew perfect with 0 trim first time it hit the air, the flight times are honestly about 15 minutes, and it can glide without power for incredible amounts of time.
On the other hand it has some impressive speed, and also flies inverted really nice!
It goes above and beyond what you'll expect from a trainer/glider. This is my first review, but I had to write something for this plane.
My only criticism is the props are not easy to replace (glued on) and need to be purchased/shipped all the way from the international warehouse. Thankfully the props don't break easily on a pusher anyway! My Firstar arrived and I went to assemble it only to find that it was missing 3 control horns and a small bolt that holds the tail wing in place. So I have not been able to fly it as yet. Otherwise the quality looks ok.firstar yumyumApart from some simulator and glider training several years ago, this is the first plane I have flown solo. I agree with some of the other comments about it being good for beginners. With the prop relatively protected behind the wing, rough landings are taken in it's stride. So far I have hit one tree and been stuck in two others. Man can this baby can take a lot of abuse! Eventually I did shred a prop, but had ordered a spare. This thing is still flying great. It's no speed demon, but cruising around with 60-80pcnt throttle on 2S 900mAh batt for >7mins, is perfect for learning. Just my 2c!Bought this before xmas, nice plane and well put together, have not flown yet will do so in new year and i cant wait, good looking model well made and if flies as well as it looks I will be well pleased. flight report coming up later. 5 stars so far. -
