With this Micro SU-27, you get a lot of fun in a small package, great for indoor flying or outside on a calm or windy day. The SU-27 is packed full of features such as a DSM2 compatible receiver and ESC, super-sensitive 6 axis gyro with self-leveling function, attitude and voltage sensor, 2 x 2g micro servos, and an 1103 8200Kv brushless motor with propeller. The gyro has 3 mode settings available, self-leveling, stabilized, and off so that you can fly the SU-27 according to your abilities.

It comes out of the box just about completely ready-made (see note below) and ready to bind to a DSM2 compatible transmitter, it is made of tough but lightweight PP foam with a carbon strip reinforcement. It also comes very nicely finished in an eye-catching color scheme and due to the 6 axis gyro, it is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned flyers. All you need apart from a suitable FrSky transmitter is a 7.4V 150~180mAh 25~30C LiPo battery. You will then be required to bind the receiver to the transmitter and go through the gyro set-up procedure, once this is done you will be ready to fly. Despite its small size, it is very stable in the air and once you have gained experience with it you can fly it in a moderate breeze.

Note: It is ready-made but you are required to glue into place the 2 vertical fins and screw the 2 elevons directly to the servo units. These have been left off to avoid them getting damaged in the box when being shipped.

Great plane for the price.

This plane is so easy to fly on the self leveling beginner mode. The stabilized mode is fun and a little more acrobatic, but the gyro off mode does make it near impossible to fly.
Fairly tough, but not indestructible (but what plane is?)
Would throughly recommend as a plane to start out on, but not for someone wanting to do anything more than fly it around the sky.
I use a dx5e with a 3 position channel 5 switch. I have another dx5e with just a two position ch 5 switch, and the self level beginner function is then not available!!! Be aware.!
(Any way of moving the gyro channel on the receiver??)

Good while it lasted, but...

Bought this a few months ago and enjoyed a number of flights.
Flies best with the gyro deactivated - gyro is usefull as bailout option in case of loss of orientation. Flight times approx 5-6min in 180-200mAh battery in mixed throttle operation. It flies highly asymmetric - right turns require some persuasion, as the motor torque is not compensated well. Plenty of power.
Binds with "old" DSM2.
HOWEVER: mine flew away after some flights and was never seen again. Loss of binding? Failure of electronics? No idea why (Transmitter was tested 100% OK afterwards, it is DEFINITELY a problem of the plane). The electronics simply froze, with the Motor ON, and the plane was circling away into Foamie Heaven (or wherever these go on such occasions).
Reported this fact to HK, with quick reply, but no offer of any consolation.

Great plane!

This is the first micrplane from 3 different I've had tried, which is really fly and can be easily controlled. Fly time is more than 5 minutes! I'll like to buy another models if HobbyKing make more models in the same format.
And, Do anybody know which gyro is used in the model?

Great flying model! Stabilization modes work well. Easy to fly in beginner mode and flies quite slow. Enough power to fly in the wind. Rugged too as mine has crashed several times with little damage and is easy to repair.
